Do you have a name that is either misspelled or mispronounced?

My name is 4 letters long, you wouldn't think it would be that hard! But I have been re-named the following

Kami Kinlaw (original)
Kami Kandu (this one is my bosses personal favorite)
Kami Kinclaw
Kandi
Tammy
Kimmy
Ms. Kinow

Is it really that hard??

People usually get the names right, but there's a little gender confusion. DH's name is Don, mine is Cody. Most folks mix it up and think we're Cody and Dawn. Sometimes they call me Cory, or Cindy.

Thats funny, my DD's name is Sarah and is always spelled Sara :)

My name has always been misspelled as Kelsey. I never correct them anymore.

my maiden name was endlessly misspelled and mispronounced and always a subject for conversation (it looked asian, but it was really swiss and i am not asian, but on paper people always thought i was).

of course, my first name is often mistaken for "cathy" and i get spellings like katie, katy, caty, catie, etc.

Not me, but my daughter.

My daughter's name is Kristen with an "E", not an "I" It's very hard to find any jewelry with the right spelling. Most of the jewelry we see has the "I"

A lot of people call her "Christine" instead of Kristen. Her math teacher all last year was calling her Kirsten:rolleyes:

Geeze, I never thought she'd have a problem with a name so simple . . . .

Mine comes with my last name...now it is very simple...MURRAY. I get Murphy a lot from telemarketers...I tell them they have the wrong number. I also get it pronounced Mur- rae with the pronunciation sounding French. I also tell those people they have the wrong number. I thought when I went from the long Polish name to a short Irish name all would be well, but I guess not!

John Hayes (correct)

Occasionally, my first name is spelled Jon although I seem to remember getting a letter for Joan once.

My last name has been spelled:
Hays
Haynes
Hates
Haise
Haze

You think that I would have learned my lesson, but we went ahead and named our daughter Sarah (not Sara).

Glo - LOL at your maiden name's mispronunciation. :)

Yep I always get Robyn instead of Robin a couple of times people have even said so that is R_O_B_B_E_N ?
HUHH???

It used to bug me but I dont relaly care anymore

Karissa is usually spelled with a C too instead of a K, Kaylee can be spelled a multitude of ways, and people ask all the time if Cam is spelled with a K even before they hear my other two kids names :)

Both my daughters names get spelt wrong
Emilee always gets Emily
Caitlin always gets Katelynn

And our last name always gets mispronounced

Dahle.......it is pronunced Dolly but we always get Doll..............or Dale...........

Mine is Theresa and it gets spelled all the time without the "h". The best misspelling yet, is one time I was talking to someone on the phone and they were sending me some information. I told the guy I was talking to that it was Theresa with an "h". When the info finally arrived and I saw the spelling of my name, I laughed so hard I cried. He had spelled it Teresah. My last name is fairly easy to spell and pronounce; Oldring. But, people still have a hard time with it. So, now I tell them that it is just like a Newring but it is an Oldring.

Theresa

My maiden name was always mispronounced. My married name is always switched to that of a famous former mayor, even though the second and third letters are reversed and the last one in our name is an o not i. I am asked all the time if we are related.

Sara's middle name is Kaytlin. It's rare that anyone spells it correctly. She usually gets Caitlin or Kaitlyn.

Yup. All of sudden people on the CB are spelling my name ith an I at the end instead of Y.

I went by my middle name, which is "Pennie" for years. Everyone Spelled it with a "Y". Just in the last 8 years, I have been going by Faith, which is my First name......now the "idiots" call me FAYE! I have to tell them: "Faith---as in God Which some people need a lot of these days!":o ;)

Usually misspelled -- most of the time, people spell my name "Steven" instead of "Stephen". :)

Me, too! I grew up in the South where it is pronounced as "Steven." Then I moved to Chicago and was informed I was pronouncing my name wrong. It should be Step-fan. Hmmm....

My DW's name is Renae (Rah-nay). Even with a GoH pin, Disney CMs usually just greet her with "Hello (pause)." :)

Yes! Ugh! No one could ever get my maiden name right. It's Meyer... but without fail people would tack an S on the end when writing it or saying it. It was also constantly spelled as MYERS and my poor dad, who worked for the same company for like forever, never did get it through his coworker's heads that his name, MEYER was not pronounced as MAYERS.

LOL...same here.....but my daughter's is Christin. No e, not a K.

My DS is Geoff......'nough said on that...all kinds of mispronunciations.

Our last name is only 6 letters, two words, very easy but always spelled wrong or only said as half the name.....and 2 sets of junk mail!!

Being a Caitlin, yep I had problems! When I was a kid, Caitlin was unheard of. I was called everything from Catalina, Katrina, Katie-Lyn, Cat-Lyn, etc... When I was around 10, it became the new "in" name so most people dont have trouble pronouncing it anymore. But, with so many spelling variations no one ever gets it right on the first try.

My maiden name was always pronounced wrong and I had to spell it for people. My married name isnt much better. The funny thing is its 5 letter and each letter makes the exact sound that it should. Theres nothing silent or tricky about it at all. Someone mentioned to me once that its because there is a "z" in it that gets people all confused.

Not me, but my dd. Her name is Kaley, rhymes with Haley. She is either called Kalie, Kaylee, Kaylie, Kayleigh, Kayla, Kalee, Kaleigh, everything but Kaley.

My first name is Dawn and very few people pronouce it correctly. I get quite agitated when my name is pronounced as Don...my male counterpart's version of the name. That's why I simply just go by my middle name Denise. DH calls me Dawn, but then something about the way he says it does me in everytime. Oh yeah....my maiden name was Hutchinson...let's not even go there on that one. Had to spell that name everytime!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
