I need a good recipe for some sort of chocolate dessert. Whatever it is it needs to be yummy! I have heard of something called death by chocolate which is a dessert in layers with pudding and brownies....does anyone know what that is? I would love to hear all of your ideas as I need to make something for Saturday.

Thanks!

One of my very favorite chocolate desserts is this chocolate cake that I have heard call "Better Than Sex Cake," but I just call "Triple Chocolate Cake." :teeth:

Beat Devils Food cake mix (NOT with PUDDING IN IT!) with 4 eggs, 1 small package of dry chocolate instant pudding mix, 1 cup of sour cream, 1/2 cup oil, and 1/2 cup warm water for 4 minutes with an electric mixer. Add a 12 oz. package of semi sweet chocolate chips. Bake in greased and floured Bundt pan for 50-60 minutes at 350 degrees.

Allow to cool in pan for 20 minutes. Invert onto serving plate.

Melt 1/2 cup (give or take) of canned chocolate frosting in microwave. Do this slowly because you want it able to pour, but not liquid. Drizzle frosting over cooled cake.

YUMMY. (and MAYBE better than sex!!! :teeth: )

This is very good, however, the last time we got together with these folks this is what I made, so I need something different.

Ok - How about THIS one? ( I did a search for the recipe that you mentioned in your OP.)

Death by Chocolate

The name of this dessert says it all. I got it from a friend, and it really is addicting. However, it slides down surprisingly easily considering how rich it sounds. It is made using a triffle bowl, but a large salad bowl (with rather upright sides) will also work.
# 1 brownie mix
# 1/2 c Kahlua
# 1 pkg. chocolate pudding (DO NOT USE INSTANT PUDDING) (use the large size, the package that requires 3 cups of milk)
# 1 12-oz. container of Cool Whip
# 2 Heath Bars, chopped (or one bag of already chopped Heath Bar pieces)
# Chopped Walnuts

Prepare brownie mix using the receipt for "cake-like" brownies. While still warm and in the baking pan, poke brownies with a fork. Pour all of the Kahlua over the baked brownies.

Prepare chocolate pudding according to instructions and refrigerate until slightly set. Use half of the pan of brownies and line the bottom of the bowl. (do not crumble them, but try to get pieces as large as possible). Press lightly up the sides of the bowl. Cover with half of the prepared chocolate pudding; then half of the container of Cool Whip. Sprinkle with 1 chopped Heath Bar (or half of the package). Repeat layers with remaining ingredients. Top with the Chopped walnuts. Refrigerate.

Not exactly low cal, but enjoy anyway! Cheers!

Here is one with pudding but we have never used the brownies.

You can do a grahm cracker crust or a nutty crust, then mix powdered sugar with cream cheese and thats the bottom layer. I suppose you could do brownies for the bottom layer. Then you do a layer of instant chocolate pudding and a layer of instant vanilla pudding and top with cool whip.

You can also do pie filling on the bottom in place of the cream cheese.

Baked Fudge
4 eggs, beaten 1 3/4 t vanilla

Add: 1/2 t salt

2 c sugar

1/2 c cocoa

1/2 c flour

Add: 1 c melted butter

Put in corning pan. Put pan in larger pan of water. Bake 350 for 55-60 min. This is very good topped with ice cream or whipped cream.

1979:This is a Tulsa specialty.

Very chocolatey and gooey rich.

This is easy, rich and absolutely delish.

Make your favorite brownie recipe but add chunks of hershey chocolate, mini marshmellows. The marshmellows will rise to the top as it bakes and will form a thin crust on top and will not be smooth. After the brownies are done and while still warm, spread chocolate frosting on top. I usually serve warm with vanilla ice cream, drizzle chocolate syrup on top and a dollop of cool whip.

My mom has made this a few times, it's super-rich, but really easy, as you just mix it and cook in the slow cooker: Triple Chocolate Mess. Like a warm, gooey half-baked brownie - but in a good way! ;) Definitely have some ice cream on the side!

This is the same way I prepare Turtle Cake. I copied it from:
http://www.backofthebox.com/recipes/cakes/chocolate-turtle-cake-g.html

1 package Betty Crocker® SuperMoist® devil's food cake mix
1 1/3 cups water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 bag (14 ounces) caramels
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1 cup chopped pecans
1 bag (16 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips (1 cup)

1. Heat oven to 350?F. Grease (or lightly spray with cooking spray) bottom only of rectangular pan, 13x9x2 inches.

2. Beat cake mix, water, oil and eggs in large bowl with electric mixer on low speed 1 minute, scraping bowl constantly (do not overbeat); or stir 2 minutes by hand. Pour half of the batter into pan. Bake 25 minutes.

3. Meanwhile, heat caramels and evaporated milk in 1-quart saucepan over medium heat, stirring frequently, until caramels are melted. Stir in pecans. Pour caramel mixture over warm cake in pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Spread with remaining batter. Bake 30 minutes. Cool completely, about 1 hour. Serve with ice cream. Store tightly covered.

Trying to find another....

Here's Earthquake Cake, same recipe I use:
http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,166,146180-241204,00.html

1 box German chocolate cake mix
1 c. coconut
1 c. chopped pecans
1 (8 oz.) Philadelphia cream cheese
1 stick butter, melted
1 lb. confectioners' sugar

Mix coconut and pecans. Pat in greased 9 x 13 inch pan. (Spray pan with Pam.) Mix cake mix according to directions and pour over coconut and pecans.
Mix melted butter with sugar and softened cream cheese. Spoon over cake. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes. (Cake will have crevices down middle like an Earthquake.)

Just go buy the Hershey's brownie mix from Sam's Club. Best brownies you can buy.... scratch or mix IMO!!!!

Riesen Chocolate Cobbler

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 1/2 cups strong coffee, hot
1 package (7 ounces) Riesen Chocolate Caramels (25 pieces)
1 box (9 ounce) single layer devil's food cake mix
Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream

In saucepan, combine cocoa, sugar, brown sugar and coffee. Heat until sugar is dissolved. Keep warm. Unwrap candies and place in the bottom of an 8-inch square baking pan. Prepare cake mix according to package instructions. Spoon cake batter over candies and pour hot coffee mixture over all. DO NOT MIX. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes or until cake is firm. Cobbler will "float" in the sauce that forms on the bottom of the pan. Let cool 15 minutes before sprinkling with confectioner's sugar. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Yummy!!!
