Do you have a FAVORITE singer/group?

Carrie Underwood - she's always been my favorite ever since she auditioned for American Idol. I buy every album the day it comes out and have seen her in concert every time she comes to the NYC area.
Bon Jovi
John Mayer
Kelly Clarkson

and if we're counting Broadway, the Wicked soundtrack.

Keith Urban. His music has helped me through some very tough times.

As my avatar shows, my favorite band is Duran Duran and has been since October 1984 :lovestruc

Other bands I like are:

Depeche Mode
Erasure
Casting Crowns
Mercy Me

We could totally hang out- except I don't know Casting Crowns? You'd have to play some for me. I also love your signature, but people call me a nerd.....

My other favorites are The Beatles, Cure, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie.

I totally hate most of the new stuff, which unfortunately my 14-year old DD loves. I hate anything by Selina Gomez or Katie Perry. And I get REAL TIRED of hearing Taylor Swift, although I kinda like You Belong To Me, since I can identify with it from how I was in high school (and still am now!)

If my A and B have to match with my C, D or any of my other letters, I would be in BIG trouble!! LOL

Kenny Chesney, first and foremost, especially his island-y sounding stuff
Steve McDonald (he sings mostly Celtic stuff of his own composing, some traditional stuff, some new age)
Bon Jovi, Poison, or any number of old "hair bands" from the late 80's
Andrea Bocelli
Old Big Band - Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, etc
*shameful secret* Neil Diamond - I blame this one on my mother, he's her favorite, I swear I was indoctrinated in utero... :rolleyes1

See... I told you... nothing matches. My DH says my MP3 player has multiple personality disorder.

My DD16, however, who can't abide country music, says the Kenny Chesney section on my MP3 player is like a black hole - it is possible to fall into it and never be able to claw your way back out.

Mine's the same way. Anything from Acker Bilk to Barry Manilow to the Sex Pistols.

Luther Vandross. The man could sing "twinkle, twinkle little star" and I would happily listen to it.

Re my signature: Thanks :thumbsup2 DH and both grew up on Doctor Who.

Both Casting Crowns and Mercy Me are Christian artists.

I also like some of the music from the Cure, Fleetwood Mac and David Bowie. DH likes The Beatles.

I actually like Selina's music. But I also like dance-able music and hers remind me of the 80's music that I grew up on (of which I love).

I really like Ben both solo and with the other 4.

I'm assuming you mean the other 2 since Ben Folds Five was a trio. ;)

I truly <3 this band with every fiber of my being.

Second on the list would be Green Day.

True BFF was a trio, he is currently touring with 3 other musicians. A bassist, drummer and percussionist.
I've seem him solo, with a band and with a full symphony. He's always awesome :)

I know, it was a play on the name not the actual band members. Perhaps I should have put it in quotes...I'll go back and fix it.

I had a feeling your were being sarcastic which is why I put the winking smiley.

He plays here all of the time (he actually just moved very close to where I live) and for years I've wanted to see him live, just never have -- I will soon, though.

Yep, I saw him at the Tennessee Performing Art's Center in Nashville with the Nashville Symphony. It was a benefit for Nashville's Symphony Hall that was damaged during the floods. Go see him! He put's on a great show.

Fun thread! I have a few favorites that have been with me through the years.

My absolute favorite is the Tragically Hip. I've seen them live over 20 times, everything they put out is awesome.

Damien Rice is another favorite, he does folky depressing music. He's Irish.

I've been listening to the Counting Crows since Mr Jones (I was 12 when that came out)...anyway, love every album they ever put out!

I regularly listen to old Tori Amos. Her music has been questionable after the Choir Girl Hotel CD...but she's still good.

Oh, and Ben Folds is always a treat too.

I will add another to my short list.

Tim McGraw. Not a huge country fan but boy do I love him. Seen him twice in concert so far and found out he is coming back in August. Gonna go see him again.
