I have been reading this organization book, and I am inspired, just wondering what other things I might need to add to my list. What do you clean on a consistent schedule? What is done daily, weekly, monthly, yearly????

For example daily.... dishes
weekly.... mop
monthly.... move furniture and vacuum under

Yeah, I have a schedule - avoid it as much as possible!!!!

How can I DIS and clean??? It's a matter of priorities. :teeth:

Hey Laura stole my schedule! Thief!!!;) :p

I'm supposed to vacuum under the furniture? Not just around it? ;)

Daily I do usually two loads of dishes and a load of clothes.
Mop at least once a week.
Clean bathrooms really well weekly.
Vacuum the floors at least every other day.

I don't have a set schedule. When it's dirty, I clean it.

I used to have one. It included things like taking down light fixtures and washing them (a few times per year), dusting the baseboards (monthly I think?), completely cleaning out refrigerator...

A schedule?????

Yeah, it's called when someone's going to visit, we clean!!!;)

Otherwise, after working 40+ hours a week, DH and I enjoy each other and life rather than spending it cleaning.

You only go around once...

You guys make me smile!!!! But I do want to get some sort of system down, at least try too! ;) I am trying to declutter and get things in order. I am tired of running around in circles, I feel I waste too much time already picking up constantly. As soon as I declutter, I want more of a system, so I can just do my daily "chores" and then be done with it, so I can spend it with my kids! :D DH too!!!:D :D

Vija try flylady.net and see how that goes. Looks to be a good system but I hate wearing shoes.

Say whatever happen to Binny's decluttering/organizing thread?

Our schedule is......

 OMG!!! Company is coming....everybody clean something!!!

:jester: :jester:

I try to keep every thing orderly to begin with so there's less hassle down the road. I always feel my home is not clean enough and that I don't have enough time to clean it. But with a 5yr old and an 8 month old it isn't as if there's nothing else going on all day. ;)

Princess - let me know if you find a schedule that works. I too am one of those company's coming cleaners - the annoying part is that you have to clean when company goes. Seriously, we are dealing with the clutter issue too. I plan to dismantle DS2's bedroom as soon as he goes back to school after Easter break. (Work won't permit it right now.)

This is what keeps our house somewhat clean. It works for me...took me years to figure out that grandma knew best. Designate days for certain chores!

Monday: Dust
Tuesday: Vacuum
Wednesday: Bathrooms
Thursday: Kitchen
Friday: Floors

Laundry is done as needed. Dishwasher is a huge help, and dishes are done right after we eat for the most part. Toys are picked up at the end of every day.

If you want to see something scary, check out this website. We're not quite at that level. LOL! But I love the definition of CHAOS.

(edited to say, hey, somebody beat me to it!)

My schedule is to have extra cash on hand bi-weekly to pay the cleaning lady;) Does that count?

Honestly -- since I have a bi-weekly cleaning person, I have been doing so much better about keeping the house tidy in between.

She must have seen my house and came up with CHAOS. About the only people I let in my house are my kids friends and my mom-she knows its usually pretty unorganized. I have just about totally given up on my kids rooms. About the only way I can clean them-and I have actually done this- is to take every single thing out of their room, except their furniture. I put it all in boxes and laundry baskets. Then we slowly went throught it all as we put it back. This has been a couple of years ago so we desparately need to do it again. I have tried having a schedule for the other cleaning-mopping, dusting etc, but found that it just doesn't work for me. Seems like I am always running one direction or another, so I actually look forward to the days I can stay home all day and just clean!

Flylady.net helped me get a routine going other than that it was...called shove everything in the master bed room.

Holycow

I clean the house from top to bottom on Saturdays during the winter. Come summer time I clean upstairs on Wednesday night and downstairs on Thursday night...that way it doesn't cut into beach time :)

Sweep daily. Beds made daily. Laundry done when needed. Dishes/pots&pans are done directly after the meal -- if I don't they stay forever and are twice as hard to clean with the gunk stuck on. Anything used during the course of a day (art supplies, toys, etc.) gets cleaned up and put back at the end of the activity.

I have big things I do on a schedule though. Things like cleaning windows, washing walls and curtains, moving appliances and furniture for cleaning behind, shampooing rugs, that type of stuff.

One thing I find is I get distracted during cleaning. I used to find something that didn't belong somewhere and would leave the half cleaned room to put it in it's place and, by the end of the morning, I'd have a dozen half-cleaned areas and nothing done. At which point I'd throw up my hands and leave it the way it was :)

Now I keep all my cleaning supplies in a carrier so I don't forget anything (and go wandering) and I begin cleaning with an empty laundry basket. Anything that doesn't belong in that area gets tossed into the basket and, eventually, gets returned to it's rightful home because I'll be passing throw during cleaning. It's really made a HUGE difference. I actually clean the entire house now :D

Hey...this is supposed to be FLUFF Day!!!!

But since I'm here I'll share the small schedule I have!

Mondays & Thursdays....laundry
Fridays....Bathrooms and vacuuming

The dishes and sweeping are daily with an occasion mop session mixed in.

Now, let's get back to the FLUFF!!!!!!!!!!!:teeth:
