Do You Go To Haunted Houses?

I think we might be long lost siblings!! I do pretty much the same thing. I love to read about ghosts and hauntings and stuff, and then I always freak myself out. I can't even watch Unsolved Mysteries by myself unless I mute the opening theme music.

Yep! That's me! I can't stop watching the shows and loooovvve reading Stephen King books and then suddenly see every shadow and hear every sound outside! Dh knows its mid-October, and that I have been watching all those "haunted" shows when I start talking to him loudly as I am walking to the back of the house and turning on all the lights.

No--but I do not enjoy being scared for amusement.

The only one I "enjoyed" was one at the Coastal Carolina Fair and that was b/c I volunteered through school to work at it. I was the "guide", so knew all the secrets of the house and it was fun to ditch my group on occasion while they figured out how to get through creepy places.

I do not enjoy being on the receiving end though of that kind of torture.

I've been to HHN twice (last time was 10 years ago) and I just hated it. The only thing I enjoyed was the Bill and Ted Show which spoofs all the movies of that year. That year was Blair Witch Project--so they had this girl runnign through the set all the time freaking out with her flashlight and stuff. Totally hilarious. The rest of the place--I hated.

I'm weird about this...

I love going to haunted houses - the kind that are supposed to have real, "live" (lol) ghosts. I very rarely get spooked and long for the opportunity to have something supernatural jump out and spook me.

But I will never go to a Halloween Haunted House because people scare the bejeezes out of me!!

You know I never even thought about this. I read the OP and automatically thought "staged Halloween Haunted House" but it's possible it was for one of those houses that are supposedly really haunted vs. people dressed up making it haunted.

I used to go to the Halloween ones with my friend when I was a teen. How she talked me into it every year is beyond me as I HATED them.

Never. I have a strong "fight" response (fight or flight) and am more likely to punch someone that jumps out at me in the dark than to enjoy it. I've never enjoyed being scared and don't get it myself, but to each his/her own. I just don't find it fun. It just makes me want to defend myself. No clown mask wearing chainsaw killer is going to take me down without a fight.

My DH has the same problem. We went to one haunted house years ago and he did actually punch the guy that jumped out at him. This is a man who is 6'2" and 250 lbs. He deals with the scariest elements of society all day, he is a sheriff, but a little ghoul spooks him. That being said I am dragging him on a haunted hayride tonight.

I'd be right there with you guys!!! Haunted Mansion is also my limit for scary.

Me too! I think the reason HM is one of my favorites is because its something scary that I can actually handle!

Dh laughs at me this time of year because I watch all the shows about ghosts and hauntings and then get spooked walking to the back of the house alone. No haunted houses for me!

I love all the "haunted" shows, too- and freak myself out watching them! I used to love "The Scariest Places on Earth" and watched all the time, then wouldn't go upstairs in my own house without turning every light on.

I like haunted houses but I don't like when the people that are in them have chainsaws. I don't know what it is but I am truly afraid of chainsaws, especially near my face.

I have never been to a haunted house that DIDN'T have someone with a chainsaw
