Do you go alone?

I prefer to go to the movies on my own--it's the only time I get to pick the show. :lmao: DH only goes to about one or two movies per year and has specific movies he'd like to see. My mom is just bossy and since dd is 20, if she has something she wants to do with me, I let her choose. I love watching the movie with no one sighing about my choice or fighting me for my popcorn.

DD has told me that she hopes she's "brave" like me about doing things on my own. That always makes me laugh--it doesn't feel brave at all.

I have, and don't mind it, but I'll only do it for daytime showings, which the theaters around me don't have year round. I think they only have daytime showings when the kids are home from school.

I love to go to the movie alone if it something I really want to see. Even better when you go during the day and its not crowded, few distractions.

I have always wanted to go alone, but would always chicken out thinking it was weird. Now I don't have any theaters near me anymore, so I guess I won't be going alone any time soon.

my husband and i have gone to the same theatre location and then went to see separate movies at that location and just met afterwards...he and i dont really have the same taste in movies...him - sci fi & action...me - comedies, dramas and love stories. dont get me wrong we usually go together. i also have gone on my day off or days i just need to get away by myself...love it....

I've done it many times and wouldn't hesitate to do so again. I have a 4 day work schedule so I have a day off during the week. If there's a chick flick that I know DH won't enjoy or just a movie I have to see on my own and don't want to wait until it hits redbox or netflix, I go to a matinee. Last time I did went to see Secretariat- I knew dh wasn't going to see it with me and a friend was too ill to go- so I went on my own. I had to see that movie as soon as it opened because of growing up at the races. I often exchange coke rewards to get free passes and wouldn't hesitate using those for a free ticket for myself.

I have gone to the movies alone, gone out to dinner alone. I don't get why there has to be the "Oh, poor thing had to go alone aspect".

Too many people are "afraid" to do things alone and then later on in life heaven forbid if their partner spouse dies, they will be doing some things alone then.

I've been known to go to the movies alone. If my family or friends are busy and I have a sitter, I have no problems seeing a movie alone. IMO, I always thought it was sad that others are bothered by it.

I'm a big movie buff and if I have a companion, great. But if there is something I really, really want to see, especially at a particular time or theater (Harry Potter Part II...yay!) I don't wait on anyone to go with me. I used to miss out on a lot of movies I wanted to see in the theater because I was always waiting until I had someone to go with. Not anymore... ;)

All the time. I love to go alone, because I can watch the movie without anyone asking questions, making comments. I go on Sundays as a Mom break sometimes.

:thumbsup2 You've already typed my opinion so just quoting it :rotfl:

I want to see Birdesmaids so bad! My husband is not on board. Maybe I'll go alone. I am a little nervous, and will probably chicken out.

You should go. I used to feel that way, too.

Now, not only do I take myself to the movies, I also take myself out to dinner! Sometimes my husband is just so wrecked from work, he'd prefer some alone time to crank up KISS or something. It does wonders for us to do what we each love.

I LOVE picking the movie and where I'll sit. I LOVE getting exactly the drink and snack *I* love. My husband hates fake cheese and fake cheese smell, so I never get nachos when we go to the movies together.

We do a LOT of things together, it is just that I like going to the movies more than he does.
