Do you get wet on Splash Mountain?

We've had everything from 'not a drop' to 'soaked to the skin'. I know people say smaller in front, but we've been in all kinds of 'configurations' and it just doesn't seem to matter.

Don't try to plan. Just figure you'll get wet and make up your mind to enjoy it.

BTW, our 'soaked to the skin' was the same night we were to dine at Club 33 (thanks to an anonymous benefactor). We barely had enough time to beat feet to our room at the Grand and dry off, change clothes, and fix makeup. I don't think we've ever moved so fast in the parks before! What on earth were we thinking!?!?!

Yes. But maybe plan a little in case you have Club 33 reservations and are staying offsite. :)

Expect to get drenched to the socks and underwear. And the bra if you wear one. (Important especially if it had paddingnehich will dry slower than your shirt...that looks somewhat awkward lol) Maybe bring extra clothes. Or bodyglide for anti-chafing purposes if you didn't bring clothes to to change into and are wearing cotton everything.

BFF actually poured water out of her purse that time! Although we panicked, now it's one of our favourite memories. I don't know what we'd have done if we'd been offsite!

Bodyglide is great stuff! I use it on my feet so I don't get chafing from flip flops, wet or dry!

Wow, I'm really glad I'm reading this thread. I had no idea it was so common to get soaked on this ride. Granted, I've only ridden a few times (three, I think), but I've never experienced a major splash. Now I know not to take my experiences for granted and plan for a change of shoes next time, just in case.

BRING SHOES YOU DON"T MIND GETTING WET! When we rode it nobody in our log got wet, but we hit a bump and a tiny bit of water came over the side of the boat and landed right on my shoe! normally this kind of thing doesn't bother me, but I was wearing a post-op boot, and walking around the parks waiting for my boot to dry was not the most enjoyable part of my trip!

I'm a somewhat petite person and sat in the front of the log during my last trip. I was SOAKED... I literally had water dripping off of me. I had to wring my dress out. Luckily it was late August and pretty hot, so I dried quickly. I'm just happy I was wearing dark colors! Yikes.

We got soaked up front last week. Surprising to us because we never got that wet on SM at WDW. Asked for the back seats on our later ride and only got a little wet.

It really depends. I think in WDW they can change the water levels a little (if it's cold, less splashing?).

I've been drenched and I've come out ok. The seats are always going to be wet, so there's that. I'm much smaller than DH and if we sit in the very front, I'll get totally soaked. To stay the driest, sit in the very back.

Our last trip I got the wettest I've ever been on Splash - I was actually really annoyed haha. Plus I was wearing a white belt that turned blue on the inside from my denim shorts and red on the outside from my tee shirt.

We only ride SM when it is raining. That way we're already wearing rain gear, so it doesn't matter where we sit or whether we get soaked. Last time we rode, it was pouring outside. CMs let us ride multiple times in a row. It was great because all the sloshing and splashing didn't bother us one bit! :)

While I'm sure it was really frustrating and annoying... that belt thing is hilarious to me. :)

As one of our favorite rides, we go on Splash numerous times each visit and often as single riders. With just the two of us or as single riders, we have no control over boat loading. There is always at least a little splash and the possibility of getting soaked in part or whole. What I mean is, you may get your entire left leg and foot drenched and spend the rest of the day in a squishy shoe or it may be just your face that gets drilled with what seems like a power spray. The anticipation of "will I or won't I get wet" is part of the fun. What isn't fun is a super wet shoe or not being able to see if my glasses are soaked. I change into flip flops for the ride and also keep a small towel in my waist pack to dry off my face. With feet and face cared for, the sun can dry any other wet area :)

Like everyone else here has said - everything from just a bit to drenched. Our last trip I sat in the front to shield my kids from getting too wet - it didn't help. We also tried kids in front (3 and 6 y/o - 80 lbs between the two of them) they were soaked. My last time down I looked like I had just swam through the ride on my own I was so wet. I was dripping and actually was able to wring water out of my t-shirt.

I agree with what everyone is saying. I have experienced everything from a tiny drop.. to being on the receiving end of a tidal wave lol. Every ride experience has been different, but always fun. One thing I have to say that someone already mentioned above... SHOES! they will get wet... so make sure you are comfortable with the pair you are wearing ending up pretty wet and squishy. This is one thing that took me a while to connect .. but now .. I make sure they are a pair I honestly don't mind getting wet.

It was pretty funny afterwards but I was steaming mad at the time as both my phones got soaked and my Connecting with Walt button I had received from Michael the day before was also ruined.

This is the real solution for both Splash Mountain and Grizzly River Rapids -- change to flip flops just for the ride. Even if you do not mind wet clothes, wet shoes and socks can lead to blisters that can ruin the entire rest of your trip.
