I always get sad when we take our tree and decorations down and put them away. :(

We always put them up early (usually the weekend following Thanksgiving unless Thanksgiving is "late" then it's the weekend before) and I just love having everything out. The house looks so pretty with all the lights and decorations, etc.

We leave everything up until at least January 7th, so this weekend we'll take it all down and put it away. The house looks so bare when everything is put away. I just hate it. :(

I know some people like to take their tree and decorations down the day after Christmas, or at least by New Year's Day, but I'd be happy leaving ours up until spring....well, almost. ;)

I'm not so much sad as nostalgic. While I love my house decorated, I like the peace of a less busy house, when it's over.

nope cuz by the time we take down all of our decorations its literally march if not april.
basically we enjoy being able to enjoy the lights and decorations during the dark winter months cuz it lifts up our spirits.
so we are ready to part with them once spring comes.
people think we are nuts but we don't care.

Sometimes, but not this year! The tree is blocking one of DS's toy cabinet and I am tired of him trying to push through the tree to get something out and being unable to put a bunch of toys away so they are sitting in the middle of my family room. It stresses me out when things are not put away in their place!

Per DH's request, we leave Christmas decorations up for the 12 days of Christmas (sigh).........so we took everything down today. I'm ready to start looking at rose and flower catalogs, planning this year's flower garden and finalize the trips we plan to make this year. After New Year's I just think of the song "The Party's Over" and I'm ready to move ahead.

DH mentioned that we had another Christmas in the bag--but I didn't feel sad; nor did he.

Yes, I do.

My FIL used to take the tree down Christmas DAY! We'd come for dinner and everything was cleaned up! WtH....

So I like to enjoy it as long as I can.

I love Christmas, I love having my grown sons (and now wives) home for a few days BUT I love it when I put all my things away. Already looking forward to my Easter things I will put out eventually......sorry not much of a Valentine's Day decorator!! :teeth:

I decorate for Christmas right after Thanksgiving. My Christmas decor is a more cluttered look than I usually have. I undecorate either the afternoon on New Year's Day or the next day. I really enjoy the clean, uncluttered look of my house now!

nope, we usually take it down on new years day but this year did the sunday before. the house just felt dusty...hard to dust properly with all the decorations up and about. the house does feel strange at first but then I keep up/rearrange some winter décor and in a few weeks will get out valentines stuff.

I think I just love starting the new year off fresh with everything in the house in good order and well scrubbed.

but I am a very sentimental person, too, and next year will look forward to getting it all out and going thru everything once again. :santa:

Yes, I do. I'm not ready to do it yet. It looks so pretty!

No, not one bit. I can't wait to put our house back to the way it should be. The tree and decorations just add clutter and make the whole house feel untidy.

If we would have been home, it all would have come down on the 26th. We were out of town for the weekend, so it came down the 28th.

I get sad! My DH did a huge amount of it this year because he knows it makes me sad. He's the best!!

i don't think you're nuts at all. I love this!:) The latest we took our tree down was the end of February. I've got my tree lit up right now. :goodvibes

I usually do. I've been taking down the decorations since Monday and finally got the tree out to the curb today. We store all of our decorations in the attic at my mom's b/c we don't have any room here for them (that's a whole other story).

Christmas is my favorite holiday. I'm usually so bubbly and can't wait to decorate Thanksgiving weekend. However, this year felt different for some reason and we really didn't decorate like we had in the past. We bought a lighted garland to put up as we had done in the previous years, but we just never got around to putting it up. Our house looked like it was still a work in progress. Meaning that we still had boxes and decorations, etc. out.

As far as how long for decorations for us goes, we try to decorate Thanksgiving weekend and take everything down by January 6th. DH likes to keep things up for Little Christmas. This year, I would have liked to have taken everything down last weekend. But our friends invited us to go with them on a weekend trip.

Seriously Jana....I agree with you so often it's starting to scare me. Were we separated at birth??

No sadness. I also dont take stuff down until my birthday a couple days into the new year.

I like how my house looks at Christmas time so I purposely decorated my dining room with winter things (Snow Village, snowmen, Jim Shore's Elsa, Anna, and Olaf), so I could leave those things in place after the trees are taken down. :)

Yes, I get very sad. It always amazes me how quickly the season sweeps by! We put a lot of work into decorating and before you know it, its time to pack it all away. January and February are my least favorite months. Although we don't take the candles down until Epiphany (yesterday), I still wish the season lasted longer.

Yes it totally makes me sad. It's a lot of fun to decorate and enjoy, but I always hate taking it down and putting it away. This year I did a totally scaled back version, made putting it all away a little bit easier.
