my hubby suffers from motion sickness and i am wondering if inside cabin or oceanview would be better for him. in case he feels sick. never been on cruise before.

People are different. Most people experience motion sickness when what their eyes are seeing doesn't agree with what their vestibular system is feeling. For them, an inside cabin is better because they remove the visual component (this is the same reason that lying down and closing their eyes makes things better).

However, there are some people who feel better when they can see the horizon. They obviously do better with a view.

oooo hmmmm
cause oceanview is cheaper on fantasy than inside. and just wondering which to do. hmmmmm

Just to throw this monkey wrench in...my husband suffers from motion sickness as well (he gets sick just watching the teacups or Dumbo). A verandah cabin was the only good option for him, as he really needed to be able to go outside. That helped him a lot.

Good point! Fresh air is often a key to success. Also, I hear it's better to try and get a room midship rather to minimize the rock... don't suffer from SS so can't verify that, just heard it. :)

My husband suffers from motion sickness. He used to wear a patch but the last few cruises, he's taken Bonine and that's worked wonderfully. We've had inside cabins, oceanview and balconies. For him, it's better to be able to see the horizon. Also, there's less motion if you can go to midship and get on a lower deck. Best of luck!

An oceanview midship works best for me. An inside makes me feel much worse.

The new meds for motion issues are really qiute good!:thumbsup2

I would call your Docs office and ask what they recommend!

Have a great trip!

Get the oceanview - especially for less money than the inside. I take DRUGS for motion sickness, and I stay in the least expensive cabin.

same here.
I also notice that the worst time for me is the first night at dinner. I now make sure that I take meds before I get on the ship.

If a verandah is out of the question, definitely do get the oceanview. IMO, you will enjoy the view regardless, and if he gets as motion sick as I do, picking the "right" room is only a small part of the solution, since you will spend most of your day elsewhere on the ship. I had great success this past Jan cruise taking the 12 hour Bonine. I took the sage advice of many people here and started taking it the day BEFORE my cruise, and never stopped taking it at regular 12 hour intervals. I had ZERO sea sickness the entire time, and ZERO side effects, not even minor ones. I was thrilled because I have become quite seasick on all of the 4 cruises prior to this one. An additional bonus that I didn't expect is that I didn't have any of that weird phantom "rocking" after coming back home. The rest of my family (who didn't take any meds) did, but I had none! :)

That's the only time I felt the motion too. First night, Animators Palate. After that I was fine.

I had always heard being able to see the horizon was a major help with sea sickness.

knock on wood, this hasn't been a problem for me.

Low floor midship is theoretically the best, the deck 2 cabins on Dream are a great location for people prone to sea sickness.

Typically, The ship will pitch and roll most on the first night and the last, those are the 2 times the ship is crossing the gulf stream...speaking of a 3 or 4 night cruise anyway.

Inside or outside doesn't make a difference to me, but I can't be at the front of the ship - I get quite sick up there and even have to sip gingerale through all the shows.
We always get mid-back of the ship. Floor 5-7 towards the aft works for me.

We went on our first cruise a couple of weeks ago and I was worried I might get sick since I will if I am reading in the back seat of a car sometimes, but on deck 2 midship neither of us had any issues. We did not use a single motion sickness pill we brought! :thumbsup2

My wife gets sea sick. First cruise she wore the patch. It blurred her vision. She could barely see a thing. Second cruise, resorted to the patch again. While on Castaway Cay, we visited the first aid building. They have free sea sickness pills. They said they are available onboard as well. They worked better than anything she has ever tried. Guess where our first stop is once we're onboard?

thank you so do i go to first aid on the ship when i arrive? or do i go to guest services? and do i just ask for pills that help with motion sickness?

what are the pills they give you on the ship? <aybe I can get some BEFORE we get on the ship.We are on deck 2 with a oceanview so I hope I do not get sick.
