I met an old friend who happens to be an Operating Room Nurse in the Trauma Dept. Very stressful job. Well I asked her how she was because she didnt look too well. She said, oh, I am just tired. I go around in a constant fog and haze. I only had about 3 hours of sleep last night. I said, gee, I guess as long as the instrument count comes out right at the end its o.k. huh, just trying to make a little humor. But later dh said to me how terrible he thought she looked too. I cant help but wonder what could happen to someone lying on that or table if my poor friend doesnt get enough sleep. Do you know anyone like this? Personally, I always feel like I need some more sleep.

In a word no. I can fall asleep, but have a hard time staying asleep. It is not uncommon for me to wake up two or three times a night. On the other had DH could sleep through a nuclear attack. He can fall asleep and stay asleep at the drop of a hat.

Probably not. I'm a very light sleeper, so my (literally) dogs snoring wake me up at home, & at the fire station, well, hey, who sleeps?? Last night I slept from midnight to 2 a.m. & then about 3:30 a.m. to 6:10.

And that was a good night.

No I do not and it does not help that DH like to chat a 3 in the morning

I need much more sleep then I'm getting. My wife is a restless sleeper too and she's up to the bathroom several times a night, which wakes me up. Then, there's the snoring dog who sleeps right by our bed, not to mention the 3am cat fight, followed by the 4am cat petting session to get everyone calmed down. When my alarm goes off at 5am, I feel like I've just gotten to sleep.

not since I had kids :sunny: The irony is, I hear as you get older you need less sleep :confused3 why can't I need less sleep now when everyone needs me and when they are grown and I have more time to myself sleep more then :confused3

I get too much sleep at least that is what my husband says/thinks.

We generally go to bed around 10 and I sleep till 8-8:30 I love sleeping..lol

So I usually get 9-10 hours of sleep a night

My husband on the other hand gets 5-6 hours a night

no. I can sleep from 8-6 and STILL be tired. I'm pretty much always tired. I can sleep all day and half the night and still be ready to go back to sleep. I function pretty well when I'm tired, and I don't doze off during the day easily.

Never! It's usually 4-5 hours on a good night. And weekends when I can sleep, my eyes fly open at 5:00 a.m. no matter what. During the work week, the alarm goes off at 4:30.

Sleep, what's that?
Umm this semester I was averaging 6 hours of sleep a night. Actually, it was 6 hours in bed, but I'm a restless sleeper and wake up 4-6 times a night, so it was probably closer to 4 hours of sleep a night. Needless to say, in the last couple days since I've been home with no place to go and no finals to worry about, I've been getting 12 and 13 hours of sleep a night. I felt like an old woman going to bed at 8:30 last night. But I was a bit scared when I woke up tired at 9 this morning.

I do, but I'm a night owl, so my sleeping hours are way different than anyone else's. I'm home for Christmas and I absolutely love it when about 10:00 rolls around and everyone goes to bed. From 10 until 2 or 3, I accomplish everything and thensome because I have peace and quiet. Then I sleep until 11 or 11:30 the next day. :)

Not enough. I do usually get 7-7.5 hours, but it never feels like enough. Maybe it has something to do with getting up at 5:30 am. :scared1:

I usually get 7-8 hours every night. I'm tired sometimes in the day but it depends on what's going on. :)

I'm one of those people who naturally needs around 9 hours of solid sleep per night. Back when I was single, it was a relatively common occurence for me to sleep through the majority of a Saturday or Sunday if I was getting rundown and hadn't been getting enough rest.

Now that I'm married with kids, I rarely get 9 hours of sleep in one night and my sleep is NEVER uninterrupted. The worst, though is when the family gets a cold and it turns into bronchitis in both of my kids. Last winter, I had a couple different week-long period where I had a cold and had to get up 3-4 times each night to administer breathing treatments (10-15 min. long each time) to the kids.

Right now because I am not in school, I usually get enough sleep, but during the semester I am running on more coffee than sleep

Not at all. I am a night-owl, and my kids aren't. As hard as I may try to get to sleep early, I can never fall asleep before midnight or 1, and my DDs are up at 5am.

Not at all! I've always had insomnia, but DD1 STILL isn't sleeping through the night.

I think we live in a sleep deprived world and I envy anyone who can naturally sleep 8 hours. I have had sleep issues all my life, however, over the last few years ( and more so the last few months) my sleep problems have gotten worse. Without the help of meds I am lucky to sleep 5 hours. I am currently under doctor care because she believes my sleep issues are causing my blood pressure to rise. Oh how I wish I could sleep better.

It is 3:58 a.m. as I post this.

My answer is no.

I definitely have NOT gotten enough sleep recently. It is finals week here at school, and I have been getting to bed at around 4am and waking up at 7 or 8am. Yes, I know that a lack of sleep does not help you score better on tests...but I don't have many options when I have so many papers to write. I'm finishing my last one of the semester now (looks like I'll be getting about 2 hours of sleep tonight)...so I plan on sleeping lots tomorrow!

This semester, I also pulled two all-night writing sessions at the libary. Both times I was at the computer lab from 3pm one day until noon the next day. The worst experience of my life!!!!!!!!
