Do you get bored with your car?

I also love to turn over cars because I get bored. My Rendezvous is getting boring and I can't wait until next year when I get to return it. We're buying our next vehichle, so it better be something I can live with for awhile. I'm thinking at least 10 years.

We're looking into a Honda Odyssey or the Toyota Sienna. We will have to test drive and research a bit before we buy. I loved my GMC Jimmy when we had it and would get an SUV that size again if we could. Our dogs are getting too old to jump that high and I'd rather have less gas guzzling in the long run.

In the spring I'll just give it a good cleaning out and put in a new air freshener and be all set. We keep it very clean during the spring/summer/fall season. During the winter it goes all to dirt, mud, snow/wet. It looks terrible.

Yes I do. I've consistently traded my cars in every 2-3 years. For some unexplained reason though, I've managed to squeeze nearly 5 years out of my little Toyota Solara. For the most part I'm still happy with it, but I have to admit, the contentment factor is fading. Sigh.

I love my truck. I'll never be bored of it. I may get seriously stressed about it sometimes (like every time I pull up to the gas pumps), but BORED???? NEVER!

I get bored with my cars about every two years. This is why I lease cars. I get a new car aprox every 2.5 years.

I've had minivans for the past 5-6 years and I was really tiring of them. I just got a new 2007 Mercury Milan that I absolutely LOVE! I've never had so much fun driving and I actually find myself wanting to drive.

I get very attached to my autos, which makes it hard to get rid of them.

I don't get bored with them, but there is usually some other vehicle I would like to have at the same time. That would probably explain why DH and I currently have four vehicles.

Lucky for us (?) DD will be getting her license in July, so one of them will go to her.

I will NEVER be bored with this car expecially with rising gas prices. Prior to this, cars were just a way of getting me from point A to point B, hopefully without breaking down on the way. I wouldn't get bored with those either, I would just drive them into the ground and move on. My current car is a three year old Honda Insight hybrid which is a blast to drive, looks really distinctive and gets outrageous mileage (76 mpg). I just hope there is something similar available whenever it finally dies on me.

Nope, I never care about them to begin with. Never been "into" cars.

Purses, OTOH, I fall in love with and eventually the love fades to boredom. :)

I have in the past, but I love my current car. It's a silver 2004 Grand Am GT that I bought used, and the guy who had it before me obviously loved it, as he loaded it with every option in the book, including super-dark tinting on the side and rear windows that really looks sharp against the silver body, chrome wheels, a sunroof with the windscreen thingie in front, upgraded stereo, etc.

All the cars I bought were new and the years I bought them in.

1963
1969
1977
1993

The first car I had only 6 years, after that I learned about preventive maintenance.

The money I saved went to retirement funding and I can tell you how great retirement is.

The largest expenditure in life is a house, the second a car. Treating a car as transportation only will save a lot of money.

I was never into cars and have had them til they basically were on their last leg...I guess I never really get bored. I love my new yellow H3 the best. I keep telling DS9 he'll learn to drive on it!!! :)

I wouldn't say I am bored with my car; I just do not like it at all.

In 2005 I got a car I just loved, loved, loved...an older Mercedes sedan that was in mint condition. It was pretty, it was comfy and I found out it was thankfully built like a tank.

I was driving down the freeway at the beginning of rush hour. Some guy decided to cut across all four lanes, hit a car two in front of me causing them to spin out and he started spinning out. The person in front of me was able to dodge out of the way. The dumb lane crosser came slamming into me, almost head on.

Totalled my car. Front quarter panel bashed in. Bumper destroyed. Front axel snapped. Thank god the car was a tank because I had both of my boys with me and all three of us walked away without a scratch.

The car was so damaged the police couldn't even push it out of traffic with their patrol car. They ended up having to line up 5 patrol cars end to end across the freeway so they could block traffic to get me and the kids out safely. They were worried we could get hit again because traffic was so crazy. After we were out they had a flat bed tow truck haul it away. It couldn't even be towed by a regular tow truck it was so messed up.

After the car was deemed a total we went out and bought a mini-van thinking it would be a good family car and a safe vehicle (according to the ratings). Yes it is big, roomy, convenient and nice to have to haul us and other family members around in. But I hate it. I adored my former car.

It has been almost 2 years since my car was totalled and my youngest son will occassionally ask me if we are ever going to get our pretty red car back. :sad1: So if you ever see a 1985 Mercedes 560sec in burgundy red with tan interior for sale let me know. I have been looking for 2 years and have yet to find one.

I'm not bored with my car, and I had planned to pay it off and drive it forever! Unfortunately, I didn't think long term when I bought it, and although I'm not bored with it, I am very frustrated.

I've owned it for almost 4 years, and it just doesn't fit my lifestlye anymore. It's a 4 seater coupe, and it's very low and small. No one else ever wants to ride with me (including DH, he hates being in it), and I can't fit ANYTHING into it! When I bought it, I was 1 year out of college. Now, I'm married, own a house, and am thinking about kids in the next 3-5 years. I can't put my bike in this car, I can't carry stuff for the house, and I can't fit a car seat. I still like the car, it has low mileage (2002 with 39,000), and I had really wanted to not have a car payment for a while, especially while we're still paying for DH's. Now it seems like I'm going to pay this off in less then a year, and then have to buy something else that is better for my life now. I really want a Honda Fit. I just dread the thought of committing to more years of car payments right away.

We drive our cars to the ground.
I'd rather spend the money elsewhere.

Same here! I was bummed last October when my '99 Taurus was totaled. It had a good 5-10 more years left on it. I bought a '99 Crown Vic w/ the settlement money so I wouldn't have to assume a new car payment.

The good news is my DD calls it an "old lady" car and won't be caught dead driving it. That ought to keep it out of harms way for a while.

I too get bored easily with my cars which is why we went to leasing. Last December *2005* I traded in my 2003 Tahoe and leased a 2006 Nissan Armada! I LOVE this car but I know when the lease is up I'll be ready for a new one. I rarely drive anywhere but the kids school, grocery store and every so often to Vegas so we don't put any miles on cars. My dh drives 8 miles r/t to work. He has a 2004 Infiniti G35 that we are buying but I imagine we'll be trading that in and going to a lease for him as well. His car only has about 25K miles on it and he's had it since Sept of '04. My Armada just turned a year Dec 30th and 3 months later it only has 5700 miles on it.

If we waited til a car died in our house to get another one my grandkids would be driving them.:lmao:
