Do you generally stay in the "worst" room @ "best resort", or "best" r

resort. In general, not just at WDW.

We've done both, depending on our vacation "feeling".

When we were young,& stupid (& didn't know abt DIS) and paid "rack" for CR, we had the "worse" room at the best hotel we could afford. (Plus, we had always wanted to stay at CR).

This trip, we could have "afforded" any hotel, but choose WL with courtyard view. (Not "best", I guess more like middle.)

I wouldn't call it "worst room" but I would prefer to stay in a standard room at a better resort than an upgraded room at a "lower" resort. I can't see upgrading for view, I could understand upgrading for services (concierge).

I like staying in a standard room at a deluxe hotel, but not necessarily the most expensive deluxe. We stayed at the Dolphin and were upgraded to a resort view because we joined the Starwood Preferred Club. It was a great experience, I would highly recommend it. Our last Disney trip, we stayed off-site in a huge condo., but we really didn't spend time in the room, so to me it was a waste.

Our first family trip to Disney we stayed in a standard room at the deluxes. But since then we have always stayed in waterview rooms at the deluxes. We love the view!!:D

Well, to me when I think about "the best" I think about suites..etc... I never do that kind of thing - but I do try to book the best type of room at whatever resort I am staying at.

Poolviews/Waterviews/Savanna view - a deluxe room if possible.

We spend a lot of time at our resort doing only half days to parks.. so we like to have the best room possible for our budget with a nice view and location.

I agree with >>^..^<<,

Our views are very important. We visit frequently and some days never venture to a park. Therefore, we spend time on our patios/balcony at the Deluxe resorts and love to soak up the atmosphere!

we generally pick the standard room at whatever resort we are visiting. We spend so little waking time in the room, other than when getting dressed, that the view is not that important. Even on our non park days, most of the time is spent at the pool, or wandering around the resort. If we can get a free upgrade, that is fine, but other than that, the standard room is fine with us.:bounce:

I stay in the best resort I an afford and in the best room that I can afford. Right now that has been woods view at Wilderness Lodge. It is also my fav resort thus far.

Having just stayed in a "preferred" room at ASMo.....I'd say I'd take any room at any moderate or deluxe resort over this "preferred" room.

I much more enjoyed my VWL dumpster view....or my parking lot view at CBR (though we could see Illuminations....) Actually except for using DVC points for a preferred view at BWV, or reserving a savannah view at AKL, I've never paid more for a view at a WDW resort. I've found almost all standard or garden view rooms to be perfectly fine...and usually exceeding my expectations. I've had Polynesian garden views that had partial lagoon views, and views of beautiful landscaping everywhere.

As someone else said, if its a choice between paying for a preferred view or moving up to a nicer hotel....I'd go for the nicer hotel.

Ordinarily, I'd say a standard room at a deluxe, because we're really not in the room much, except for right before we turn in for the night. However, when we booked a standard room at the YC (thru a TA who was not a Disney Specialist with the rack rates right out of the WDW brochure - if we only knew  !), our view was of an AC unit and not much more! We were not happy, but at the time, did not think to ask for something a bit nicer.

Which leads me to why it's nice at the GF, because all standard rooms have a decent, if not lovely, view. I don't know about any of the standard views or rooms at other WDW resorts, though.

If you are at the Swan/Dolphin, you are able to join Starwood Preferred Club for free and then request an upgrade before you check in. We had a nice "resort view" even though we had earned no points yet and were staying in a $129/night room. If we had points or paid more we could have had a view of the fireworks from Epcot, but we would not have been in our room at that time anyway.

For me, where I stay is a really important back drop to my trip and the more trips I take the more time I spend at the resort. I would much prefer to spend A bit less for a great view at a lesser resort than paying a bit more for a view of the dumptsters or parkinglot at a more expensive place even though I do not spend that much time on the balcony.

We go for the resort not the room view. We are rarely in the room and when we are the curtains are closed and we are either sleeping or getting ready to go go go... We usually stay at the WL so if we are at the hotel I would rather hang out by the pool or in the lobby. Rooms are too small for me to be really comfortable.
