I have a pillow top mattress. It has the pillow top on both sides. I flip it every 3 months or so. I went with my mom because she was buying one and she was told not to flip anymore. Just rotate..... WHo knows...
We have a king size pillow top mattress (on both sides). We try to flip it every three months, but sometimes we go an extra couple months before flipping (it's so heavy I hate moving it).
We flip and rotate every three months or so. Sometimes more often sometimes less. I once received what I thought to be a helpful hint..would like to share it. I put masking tape along the short edge of the mattress on all four edges. On the tape write the numbers 1,2,3,4. That way when its time to move the mattress just put the next number to the head board. We always found it hard to remember if it was time to flip or time to rotate. Now the mattress gets even wear.
I flip ours every couple months but not my kids' unless I rearrange their furniture -- I can't explain my reasoning other than DD usually gets in bed with me and both have those plastic covers over their mattresses (I'd get one for mine but I've not yet seen a king size one).
Flip twice a year, rotate once between. I use a safety pin to remind me which way to go. I kind of do it when I know it is time and the spirit moves me.
A rhyme to help you remember what to do: "Flip in the fall, spin in the spring". That's how I learned it, and it puts you doing something every 6 months. However, my latest mattress is a pillowtop on one side only, so all I can do is spin.
