Do You Feel Like You "Know" Other DVCers From These Boards?

Now, first of all, I want to state that I'm not some crazy creeper stalker chick. :lmao::lmao:

I've been on these boards since the Stone Age... back before it transformed to the DisBoards it is now in fact. Some of the names I see on here are people that I've actually had the pleasure to meet on cruises, trips or gatherings. Others I just "know" from these boards. I find myself thinking, "Wow, that's great - so and so's child is now in college" or "Wow, can't believe he's a grandpa now". Even though I haven't met them or have spent very little time meeting them in the "real world" I feel like I know other DVCers from all our years here on the DIS.

I still feel nostalgic when someone mentions the long hallways of the BWVs or tries to explain why OKW is the only "True DVC Resort", lol.

Anyone else feel this way?

Absolutely! In fact when I needed some advice on MN grocery store I pm'ed jekjones and she knew just what I needed. I follow bobbiwoz' adventures as she and her husband move into retirement and wish I had as many points! I love DVCMike's photos.

I wish I could meet more DISers in person.

Definitely. Almost everything I've learned about how to purchase and use the DVC product, I've learned from these boards.

I honestly can't imagine that I could have gotten nearly the experience and value out of DVC without the existence of this board and the contributions of several members here.

Yes, I always look forward to reading responses from Andrew015, disneynutz, KAT4DISNEY and wdrl.

I was just thinking this! I've only been back on the boards posting recently, but for those I hear from often I have mental images that are probably very different than reality ;) I also have favorite posters and posters I generally agree with ;)

When someone changes their avatar, some familiarity can be lost (except those whose names stand out). Same avatar, different user, I occasionally don't catch it. OP, I interchange you with the twin mermaids (and the other mermaid, as she calls herself).

Happy Easter, Disboard friends. Yes, I feel a kinship to many who post. I'm active on Games and Exchanges as well and have met quite a few of you in person! Once we move to FL it will be easier to do that.

Thank you all for all the information you have posted here. I've learned a lot!

Years ago there was a thread where people posted pictures of themselves so you could put a face with the name. You might be able to do a search for it and see your favorites!

I was just a reader for the first few years. Once I joined DVC I became a bit more active. But I have to say last year when we decided to add on resale - I would not have had the confidence to do it without the patient advice and information from so many people here. Although I don't feel "I know" too many I do feel comfortable and happy posting here. I would enjoy meeting some of you at Disney someday if our trips ever overlapped.

Happy Easter! Yes I have made many friends on the Disboards and have met many of them as well! My next "Disboards" meet will be in two weeks at Disney Grand Californian!!

Having a thread like this helps create these kind of relationships . I don't get that feeling here mainly cause I am not that active . But I go to other message boards that I truly feel the people there are my friends , since we all spend lots of time conversing of plenty of off topic things . Most of us agree that we would be friend in real life if our locations didn't get in the way , and feel like we are friends even though we will likely never meet .
