SHHHH??

There's this annoying radio commercial here in Chicago. I don't even know what it's for but the woman starts whining to her husband and he tells her Shhhh. And she says to him "Don't shush me, I'm your wife!"

Is telling someone shhhhhh rude? I mean if the dh told me to shut up, well then there'd be a problem, but I don't see anything wrong with shhhh.

Yes, all of the time! I happen to be a chatterbox and he is very quiet. He says I talk enough for both of us! LOL It doesn't bother me a bit. Now, if he told me to "shut the H up!" we'd have a problem. ;)

I tell DH to shhh all the time. Here's the typical scenario:

It's 10pm. We're watching the news. A story comes on about how the Mayor is putting running shoes on all the statues in Boston. DH starts commenting on that story. Meanwhile, there is another story on about a stabbing somewhere and I completely miss it because DH is yapping about the running shoes. I tell him to shhh...I want to hear about the stabbing.

Last week, I missed the first half hour of a show because I was in the shower. I then missed the last half hour because DH was going on and on about the first half hour.

If I didn't tell him to shhh, I'd miss half the news and everything else on TV because of his never-ending commentary.

We have that same commercial in Boston...it's the one about the TV, right? He thinks he's actually at the golf tournament because the TV is soooo great.

Oh, I shush DH all the time. We'll be watching TV, he'll be talking and then say, "What did they say?". I say, "If you weren't talking, you would have heard it." Then he talks again, I say shhhhh. He says shhhhh. He gets PO'd, I get PO'd, then neither one of us hears anything. Ah, a typical night at the Mc* household. :teeth: ;) So, yes I do it, and yes, I think it's rude.

I try not to shush him because I need to constantly hone my tuning out skills. Not to mention the look usually clues him in.

Sometimes he still keeps prattling on and I have no choice but to Shhh him!

LOL... :rotfl:

Sounds like we married the same man! :rotfl:

Both of us "shhh" the other from time to time. I tend to babble aimlessly at times, and sometimes my DH will just tell me "No talking for the next five minutes" or "next topic".

I think a lot of it just depends on the delivery.

My son has the same bad habit of babbling. I actually paid him $5 to be quiet for 20 minutes once LOL!
