90 percent of the time we do... Our dog is part of the family and has been to WDW 4 times already. We take a camper for a few weeks every winter and she loves it. You can leave your pet in the camper as long as it is not a tent style. And we come back and check her ever 3 or 4 hours... We also take her to the White Mountains of NH and to Cape Cod (just last week for that trip) a few times every year. It is hard sometimes to find a place that will accept dogs but we go the extra mile to find them.
On the occasions we can not take her I have the son of a co-worker watch her and the house (he stays here during that time).
Most of our vacations no. He's a 130 lb. black lab so he's not very portable. We do take him to my uncle's cabin once a summer near Woolrich, PA, and he loves it. Just gotta watch out for bear though.
We take our dog, a golden retriever, if we go to a cabin up north, as he loves the lake and he is part of the family. We do not take him if we got WDW or when we occasionally go to a hotel for the weekend.
I spent all my time going back and forth to walk thm, feed them etc....
Factoring in the 'travel' time from whatever park and the transportation hold-ups...I was always clock watching! It was hard work and no fun!
We took our dog (100+ Akita) on a couple of camping trips. The highlight of the last trip was trying to find a hotel that took dogs when I decided that I needed to go to the SkyDome in Toronto for a baseball game at the last minute.
We usually leave her at the Dog Spa or at my mother's house now that the dog is quite old.
