Everytime my family & I read the Contemporary room service menu, there are certin items that we wonder why are they on there? For example some breakfast items like the Monorail Express are served for breakfast in the Concourse Steakhouse & Pancakes are served in the Food & Fun Center. Other itmes like Salads & Sandwiches are served in the Food & Fun Center & the items are basically the same in their description. Not to mention that they add on an 18% gratuity & a $3.00 delivery charge to all items that you order. If people want to order room service it's thier choice & if they want to spend the extra money they can do what they want, because it's their money. I should mention that not all items listed on the menu are served in the restaurants or the Food & Fun Center, so then I can see where room service would come in handy.

We generally end up ordering room service at least once on a trip. When we are at WDW, we're not there to do everything the absolute cheapest way possible. By that logic it would be really stupid to pay disney prices for food in the first place when much cheaper food can be had off property. Room service is a luxury and part of pampering ourselves on vacation. They come to your room, set up the table with a white tablecloth and all of the trimmings and we generally have either a romantic dinner or breakfast for two in our pj's. Just like you are paying more for the "disney atmosphere" when you dine in disney restaurants, you're paying a slight premium over that for the privilege of having disney dining delivered to your disney room. I don't consider this any more of a waste of money than staying on site or any other disney dining option.

We've paid the extra, just because the kids were cranky and we could just chill in the room and let them play.

People order room service for the convenience, not for the food.

The 18% gratuity isn't that much more than you'd pay in the restaurants. The $3 service charge seems pretty minimal for a deluxe resort.

Having said all this, I've never ordered room service at Disney, but I frequently do it when travelling alone on business.

We were at BWV this past February and ordered room service. We were exhausted, it was a terrible day outside - cold, windy, storming and we didn't feel like going out in it in to eat dinner. Worth every penny, IMO. :confused3

It's a tradition to order room service breakfast once a trip. I know it's expensive but it's fun!

I always try to convince DH to order once per trip, but I'm always turned down. The only time we DID order room service was when we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel in California. We got back late to our room - midnight maybe - and all that was available was room service. I think we got burgers. I'd love to get room service - just for the fun of it!

We ordered room service at AKL last year and really enjoyed it. It does work out expensive but for convenience its worth it as we were sssoooo wipped out that night. We may order room service on our first night this year if we are too tied to go down to Mara or I would love to order room service breakfast on our last morning.

I ordered room service when I was on my first trip without my husband and I had a teenager who was angry at the world and I refused to go anywhere while his behavior was so bad, he staightend out for the rest of the trip
