Or am I the only one who does it and it's ok for other people to make fun of me?? maybe they don't realize English is my fourth language ?
I wonder if they can speak and write four languages fluently.

I'm dyslexic so I'd say that yes I sure do and probably often.

I misspell and I mistype (I never formally learned how to type). Usually I catch it when I proofread, but once in a while something will get through. I figure it's not going to kill me, the Earth isn't going to spin out of control and fall into the Sun, and if anyone is going to judge me because of a misspelled word or two, then they have the bigger problem :D

i misspell and mistype all the time. :teeth:

sometimes the misspellings and typos here (or anywhere) are funny though. i can laugh at myself when i make a funny boo-boo. life is too short to worry about such things. :)

I'm a terrible speller and I use the wrong words all the time. I think it has to do with aging and brain cells for me. :o :p

As long as I know what someone is trying to say, I don't care how they spell or which words they use, especially here with friends.

The only time I put any effort into spelling or writing is when I'm writing a paper for school, or writing to or with a student. Otherwsie, I just let it fly. :o :p

My native language is Catalan ( spoken in the North East region of Spain ) my second language is Spanish , English is actually my third , Italian fourth and then French and German close ( but forgotten a lot due to not practicing anymore ). That is one of the advantages of living in Europe, driving distances are short compared to the US and in less than a 10 hour drive you can be in many different countries.

Everyone misspells occasionally and everyone gets made fun of sometimes. I find it helps to have a sense of humor about things and laugh along. If I had a nickel for every time I did something that made people laugh I'd be rolling in nickels. :) Congrats on being multi-lingual. I'm pretty rusty now but at one point I was conversational in Greek, French, German and Spanish. I wish I had been able to keep it up - it's something I regret that I lost along the way.

Deb, I'm the first one to laugh when I make mistakes like that , but I do not like it when some inconsiderate people here have nothing else to do in this life that to insult someone for misspelling something. Thankfully the ones who did it , are not anyone I care for but they should really take a good longggggggg look at themselves before they talk about anyone else.

i'd pay a nickel to see that! :p :p :p

Don't let it get to you, Mskanga.

Some people are so small and insecure that they need to compulsively tear other people down to feel "important".

Amen to that, Deb! People that make fun of others for misspelling things tick me off. It must be nice to think of yourself as being so perfect. I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't know anyone that is perfect (there might be 1 or 2 that are pretty darn close though:teeth: ).

Mskanga, I misspell things all the time, and I am only fluent in 1 language. Well, 3 if you count computer languages.;) And if I misspell in those, I get a headache real fast (that happens more often than it should).

This misspelling thing reminds me of a poem:teeth: :

I have a spelling checker.
It came with my PC.
It plane lee marks four my revue
Miss steaks aye can knot see.

Eye ran this poem threw it.
Your sure real glad two no.
Its very polished in its weigh,
My checker tolled me sew.

A checker is a blessing.
It freeze yew lodes of thyme.
It helps me right awl stiles two reed,
And aides me when aye rime.

Each frays comes posed up on my screen
Eye trussed too bee a joule.
The checker pours o'er every word
To cheque sum spelling rule.

Bee fore a veiling checkers
Hour spelling mite decline,
And if we're laks oar have a laps,
We wood bee maid too wine.

Butt now bee cause my spelling
Is checked with such grate flare,
There are know faults with in my cite,
Of nun eye am a wear.

Now spelling does not phase me,
It does knot bring a tier.
My pay purrs awl due glad den
With wrapped words fare as hear.

To rite with care is quite a feet
Of witch won should be proud,
And wee mussed dew the best wee can,
Sew flaws are knot aloud.

Sow ewe can sea why aye dew prays
Such soft wear four pea seas,
And why eye brake in two averse
Buy righting want too please.

I know how to spell, but my fingers don't! And sometimes I go into brain freeze.

Mskanga, I would never have known English wasn't your first language, especially since most people consider English one of the more difficult languages to learn...

LOL Shannon , I like that poem! Chuck , English is not difficult but can be VERY confusing, specially when the same word has different meanings or two different words sound the same when pronounced.

Deb said it best...I can't add anything after that. I would just ignore them...Me I never ever mis-spell

On a side note, I think it's unreasonable to expect people never to judge you. Throughout this thread there are judgements taking place. If you're going to judge others, why is it not OK for them to judge you? This isn't directed at anyone in particular, I'm just throwing it out as an observation.
