Do you enjoying flying?

I used to, when I was younger, but gradually became more and more nervous about it. Now, in my 50's, I'm basically terrified of getting on a plane. I have resorted to using drugs (Xanax) in order to cope, and even with that, I'm resigned to the fact that we're probably going to die in a fiery crash before reaching our destination. I hate flying like a zombie, but I have little choice, other than driving. I also hate driving long distances. If it means sitting in a car for over 6 hours, I'll force myself to get on the plane. I love our vacations though, so I keep putting myself through this hell. Has anyone found something that helps with this kind of anxiety? I'm so envious of people that enjoy flying.

I love flying, I love the whole experience, from arriving at the airport to the take off, landing and the whole flight. I guess as I live on an island country, I have always associated flying with vacations and new experiences. The 10 hour transatlantic flights I see as part of my vacation. The flight to America is where I finally relax, knowing that for the next 10 hours all I have to do is eat, drink , sleep and watch TV. I love that switch off from normal life. The flight back to Europe is my re adjust to normal life. After all the new experiences in America and the sensory overload of Disneyland, its so great to just relax for 10 hours.

I don't feel strongly either way but I am usually excited about where I'm going, even for work trips, so that helps. Flying with a baby wasn't all that fun but now that he is a preschooler our next flight should be a little better.

Not enjoyable, a necessary evil so for some destinations. Most airline employees have all the charm of a rash. No idea if this is because the airlines don't treat them well, airlines certainly don't treat me well so this is my best guess. I would like it more if there was an element of gracious customer service instead of making me feel like cargo, as far as covid goes, this is why I don't trust airlines at all.

back pre 9/11 way of airline travel-i was fine with it. when i could get to the airport w/ at most an hour of advanced time and all seats were assigned no matter how cheap the ticket i was fine with it. now it stresses me too much-we end up having to take so much as carry on (meds/electronics and other stuff i can't chance getting lost-i've had checked baggage lost :sad2: ) that going through tsa is a nightmare of unpacking and repacking (and feeling guilty for holding up the line).

if i could-i would fly everywhere by either helicopter or fairly small plane. the smaller planes alaska airlines uses that are only 2 seats on each side of the aisle and a minimal amount of passengers are my preference

I enjoy it. The one time thus far traveling for work was a pain due to the airport changing flights and long waits.
The vacation travelling was less of a hassle. And I love that moment following getting off that last flight into your final destination.

I don't care for the cramped quarters, but on rare occasion I've had extra seats to myself.

I wouldn't say that I "enjoy" it, but it has nothing to do with being in the air. It's really more the airport hustle and the constantly disappearing legroom, etc. that keeps it from being a nice, relazing time. I do still love the feeling of takeoff though.

I love the feeling that you get when you are taking off. Pushed back into your seat until the release that you are in the air.

What I love more is what is waiting for me at the end of the flight, whether it is our destination or coming home, although I like the coming home less than the getting to the destination, depending on whether it's for business or pleasure.

It's "OK" I dislike the process of flying more than actually being in the air. My favorite part though is watching the clouds from above and even better a distant thunderstorm. The only part out side of getting on the plane though is heavy turbulence. Even though I know it's not a huge deal it makes me a tiny bit anxious.
