Do you enjoy the Nutcracker Ballet?

Although I've played in many orchestras (violin) for the Nutcracker in several cities, I've never sat through a performance. I have played it so many times, that I now can sneak lots of peeks cause I have so much of it memorized. :flower:

I love the Nutcracker Ballet :) Seeing the Ballet many years ago, is what started my nutcracker collection.

I love The Nutcracker. I saw it performed by the Kansas City Ballet many times. DD danced in The Nutcracker for three years.

Here is DD as an angel. She is the middle angel.

Here is DD as a mouse.

And here she is as a toy soldier. She is the second from the right.

By the time she finished these productions, I think I could have danced most of the numbers. LOL!

I like the music, but I can't say I've enjoyed watching ballet as a whole. It might be something to look into for my girls though--one of them is a huge musical nut. If she watches the DVD of Cats one more time, I'll go insane. :rotfl: :rotfl:

I like the nutcracker and have seen it many times but once every few years is enough for me. :flower:

I am not thrilled with it. We took the boys when they were 5 and 9. Big mistake. My little one kept saying,"Mom is there more of this because I really love it and I want to know how much more there will be." Translation:How long do I have to stay here. The best part for him as he will tell you to this day was the cookie and Coke that cost 7.00 at the Wang Theatre in Boston.

Maybe it would be different if I had girls and I could dress them up in Strasburg for kids clothes..take them to the 4 Seasons for dinner and then to the ballet. I fought with the boys to get dressed. We had to go to Pizza Hut and then they hated the ballet.

:rotfl2: Your boys just cracked me up. "How much more, because I reeaally love it!" :rotfl2:

Don't kid yourself, lots of little girls would prefer to go to Pizza Hut, too. My DD was totally unimpressed with the Nutcracker until she saw Barishnikov on PBS. Now it's a family tradition to watch the old verson on Tv. She still won't go see the live performance with me--once was too much. :teeth:

Love it! We alternate the Nutcracker and a local play production of A Christmas Carol. This was supposed to be Nutcracker year, but we will be in WDW. DD (almost 16) is pretty upset about it.

Thats my daughter...I think she would rather chew on broken glass than see it again! And I tend to agree with her..I fell asleep, I really don't like ballet so it did not impress me in the least...and my daughter just kept asking "could we see the radio city Christmas show instead of this"...and ironically the one scene in the radio city show I don't like is the one where the little girl is out there doing ballet!

Love the Nutcracker. As long as they don't change the music I pretty much like any way they stage it. We recently and suddenly lost our primary ballet troupe here to bankruptcy. The Nutcracker will be done by a couple of nearby universities, but it's a shame when a fine arts organization can't stay afloat.

i used to go to this every year with the gram
it is wonderful
its not at the wang anymore which is to bad it was a tradition
