I am thinking of trying Ebay to help with our Disney fun? anyone else doing this?

I've sold a bunch of stuff on ebay. I've also had a lot of things just sit and not sell. Legos sell very well, especially Star Wars and Harry Potter and the little guys. Videogames sell pretty well. If you've never done it before, look to see what similar items to the ones you're selling have sold for -- check the box on the left side that says "completed listings," and you'll see what sells, what doesn't, and for what price. Be careful with your shipping fees so you don't lose money on those. You can make a bunch of money, but you can also get very frustrated! I think I'm just going to have one heck of a garage sale instead this year.

I dont do it anymore.I got tired of paying the fees along with paypal fees. I would just do yard sales.

I Craigslist and love it. I'm decluttering and making $$ for Disney at the same time. We have a trip coming up next week (7 days but who's counting :thumbsup2 ) that we're paying for in cash thanks to CL !

Just sent DH off to work this morning - he's meeting folks on the way in and bringing home $43 from CL - all from things DD has outgrown or we haven't touched in forever.

A different angle here; Buy your disney pins on ebay brfore your trip. You can search for "Disney pin lots" and can get 10 to 20 assorted pins for what you might pay for one or two at the parks. I do this for my kids and they love it as they start the trip with plenty of pins to trade with CM's.

I have eBayed, however I find it can be extremely fickle. You really need to research the item as the PP said, to see if it will actual sell there. I've had some luck with craigslist, too. Depending on what you have you may check out consignment stores or resale shops that will buy your items.

I used to sell on eBay all the time (been registered for 14 yrs now), but between eBay fees, Paypal fees, and postage costs, unless I have something noteworthy to sell, it's not worth my time for "little" or "cheap" things anymore. It's been easier to donate most of what I'm getting rid of to the local animal rescue shelter for the semi-annual fundraising flea market

Good luck if you decide to do it!

Getting ready to sell DS's clothes very soon for some Disney money! I will only sell clothes though and in a big lot because it's the only way I seem to make a decent enough profit. It's a shame because I used to sell on Ebay a lot and paid for our entire last trip that way but that was 4 years ago...it was cheaper to sell then.

If you decide to go the Ebay route spend some time reading the pages and pages of rules. It has changed a lot over the years and it's no longer for the faint of heart. And with Ebay's Buyer Protection that they advertise, it's become a magnet for scamming buyers. Anyone who is just starting out selling is sure to find that the dishonest buyers do a lot of things to get your item for free. And they are pretty successful at it.

I would strongly recommend you to to the Discussion Boards, Seller Central, and read what Ebay is like right now. It may change your mind. :sad2:

I don't do EBay anymore, I do Craisglist instead. So much easier, no postage or packing stuff up to ship, list, sell, it's done.

Small items just not worth it on ebay, I buy lots off ebay, don't sell much N E more on there.

15 year seller here...some months do well, some not so well, but still very much worth it.

Be careful of fake/scrapper pins in these types of lots. Even though it says "Disney" on the back doesn't mean it's authentic.

If you are lucky to find the "right" item at the "right" time it can be a big payoff. In 2005 I was looking for princess wall paper border. I couldn't find it anywhere. It was selling for 25-35 a Roll on ebay. I walked into Kmart and they had it for $6 a roll. I went home to measure as i wasn't sure what I needed adn realized it was the same one they were selling on ebay for $25 a roll... so I went and bought all our KMart had. Did a buy it now $70 for three rolls and sold 6 rolls within 6 hours. I then went to every Kmart in the Ohio, PA, WVa area, even had my sisterinlaws getting it and I made enough to pay for a 5 night trip, everything included at the contemporary. It dried up about 2 months into it, I just hit it at the right time, right product. Also sold some concert tickets and made money but the concert scene is really overloaded, so you have to be lucky to find great seats to get money out of them. Since then I haven't found anything to make money on ebay with, but I always keep my eye out for something.

It really depends on what you are selling. If you are selling that table or couch down in your basement that you haven't used in about 5 years then i would do CL. You don't have to worry about shipping and there are always college kids/ right out of college kids (where I was at not too long ago) trying to furnish thier apartment for cheap. They'll take the good, the bad, and the ugly as long as it fits the budget. Another great thing to sell on CL is electronics. Since most people feel more comfortable buying an electronic they can actually view and test out before paying they usually check CL before ebay or amazon.

However, say you have a huge amount of maternity clothes or old designer clothing (maybe you or your daughter once had an obbession with Betsy Johnson or Anne Taylor) try to sell them as bulk on ebay. No one looks for clothes on CL. I've heard from most people it just sounds too dirty. The only bulk clothing I would try and sell on CL is baby clothes. But I'll get to that in a min.

Okay so baby/toddler clothes. Okay so ALL moms and dads on here know how quickly kids grow out of clothes in like at least the first five years. Here is what you do. Go get all of your DD's and DS's old baby and toodler clothes that haven't fit them in forever. Sort them into two piles - a pile of target, walmart, kmart type clothing and then clothes that you got from baby gap, deparment stores, jimboree, etc. Then you go online and look up childrens consigmnet travel shows, or maybe even a stationary one. You're going to try to sel all our "higher end" baby and toddler clothes here. There is a very popular one in the midwest (kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Texas, etc) called Here We Grow Again - sorry I can't attach links yet.

You usually get to decide on each individual piece what you want to sell it for. You'll clean it, tag it, and then bring it to them before the sale starts. At this one they actually log what of your items sell each day os as the sale goes on you can actually see what is selling and how much money you've made. Now the downside of this is that they get a cut. However you don't have to deal with anything. At the end of the sale you pick up what didnt sell. At these sales you can even sell kids toys, books, bottles, strolelrs, car seats, pack and plays, etc.

Okay so for the 2nd pile of target and walmart brand/ anything that didn't sell at the consignment sale. I helped my mother do this when my baby brothers out grown clothing seemed to fill 70 percent of his room. Organize everything by size and gender. Put all of the different sizes in to bags. Post and Ad on CL saying that you have baby/toodler/child clothing you're selling in bulk. Say each bag is $20 or whatever you think is worth it. Now this really only works if you have A LOT of clothes to sell as no one searching CL is probably going to want to pay $20 for a grocery bag full of used clothes. If you get lucky - like we did. You'll find that soon to be mother who will buy all the bags - in our case 15 bags for $20 each ( we actually cut the price for her so she could save money). We made a little under $300 in one day not to mention the stuff we sold at Here We Grow Again. It worked out great we made quite a profit from clothes we probably would have just donated and this mom is SET on baby boy clothes until he is 3 or 4 years old- Bibs included. Ps. We also threw in some baby toys, books, a boppy, and a few unopened diapers and bottles.

Another tip I have is if you have a teenage daughter in high school who needs a dress for homecoming/prom/sweetheart/courtwarming look online and try to find a consignment/used dress shop. Most of these ONLY take desginer dresses. So yes it's used however its going to be in great shape and it maybe the only way for her to have that super sparkly bright pink Betsy Johnson dress for $100 or less. Which still, for us budget obbessed people, doesn't sound like a great deal ... even though that dress normally sells for $400 - $600. But the great thing is that you can take these dresses BACK to the store and resell them. Granted they aren't going to give you back what you paid for them but you will probably end up paying about $30 or $40 for her dress after selling it back to the store.

Also, anything you cant sell to a consignment shop or on ebay or CL you can alwasy take to a local Goodwill and ask for a Reciept for you taxes.

This works great if you are trying to get your kids to clean out thier toy chest and closets. Tell them anything they get rid of the amount of money you get for it on ebay, CL, or what its worth off of your taxes they can have to spend at Disney. You get a decluttered house and thats $5 dollars that they get o spend on some toy they want at Disney.
