on St. Patrick's day (or any other day, for that matter.) DH and I are partial to the grey, but Mom always cooked the red (NY style). We also have friends who make corned ribs. Those are very yummy.

Nope, I don't care for it.

We have corned beef and cabbage a couple times a year, but not usually on St. Patrick's Day. Corned beef and cabbage isn't even really Irish. I never saw it when I was in Ireland. :D I'll probably being having lamb that day.

I love Reuben sandwiches, so I guess I do!

No, it grosses me out, but my parents do invite us over for St. Patrick's Day for corned beef and cabbage. I eat the cabbage only.

I love corned beef with cabbage and potatoes served with a really hearty mustard and bread. Also love Reuben sandwiches.
Now I'm hungry and have to go get lunch.

I love corned beef! Unfortuneately DH and DS do not, so the only time I get corned beef and cabbage is when I go to my mom's house. Didn't realize there was any other kind except red, do the two taste the same?

On rye with mustard, and a pickle, preferably from Carnegie Deli.

I eat corned Beef gravy (white gravy of course). It is wonderful over some hot buttered biscuits! Of course this is a meal you can't have too often for fear of widening hips ;)

No, I've never tried it and I don't care to. I try to stay away from all meat.

tiggerlover, they do taste different. The grey is not as salty as the red and it tends to be more tender.

The grey sounds good - but I've never seen it. Is it a regional thing?

I love corned beef, but have never made it. I really only have it in a Reuben sandwich when eating out.

This Sunday we're having our in-laws over, and we're doing German. I make a mean Rouladen (beef rolls with bacon and onions inside in a brown gravy) and spaetzle (kind of a German dumpling) and some red cabbage.

I never heard of grey corned beef -- doesn't sound like an appetizing color. Sounds like the red kind that went bad:(

Good question. I'm not really sure. I do know I have to look closely at the labeling as some brands look red before you cook it. You have to be sure it's labled grey. We used to have a wonderful market in the neighborhood who use to corn their own beef. It was the best. Sadly they went out of business.

No...no meat for me.

I grew up in South Boston and ST. Pattys Day was a Big Deal...I would never eat the boiled dinner my Mom made. One year when I was in Jr. High she made me sit there and eat it. I was sooooo sick I had to stay in bed the whole day. She went to the parade without me:rolleyes:

Sorry...that was something that just blurted out:o

Ummmm....corned beef. It's sitting in my frig waiting to be cooked on Sunday.

yep I make the red one a few times year. I have never had the grey. Sounds good though. :)

Ill pass on the cabbage though ;)

I'm early because we had corned beef this past Sunday!! Yum!! Not sure if we'll have it again, tho this coming Monday.

I've never had the grey.
