Do you drive yourself nuts - or is it just me?

I feel like I must be losing my mind. We always stay at the GF and love it. I waited through two AP discount runs (reg and value season July 1-12) and now that I have my AP discounted lagoon view GF room I keep second guessing myself. Not that I want to change to another deluxe - we already rethought that a million times and changed res too many times. I just keeping thinking that even in value season with an AP discount we're paying $335 plus tax for a room! Now we are not park commandos and do enjoy our resorts so I'm not completely nuts but a haunting voice inside me keeps saying, if we switched the last four nights to POR we would still have eight nights at GF and would save almost $1000! Our vacation is already crazy - 2 nights at Nick hotel, 11 nights at GF, 4 nights at HRH club level. Would it be completely insane to do this change. I know DH loves the deluxes (and so do I) but when you think about it it seems crazy to spend that much money. We have paid off the room so I don't even know how they would do it -would they just put the extra money on our "room charge bill" or would they refund it to us? I haven't even talked to DH about it - do you think I'm crazy and should just let it go or would that $1000 keep eating you too. Looking for honest opinions - I'm probably overthinking it - but hey AP rates are done, PSs are made 8 weeks left to go nuts!

Hi!!! WOW-quite a vacation!!! If you really love staying at the GF then just stay put! If you switch to a mod. at the end of the trip and don't like it then it could ruin your whole trip. We jump back and forth from the all-Star,cause I love the atmosphere to deluxe. This year we became DVC members so we are staying 2 night sports,2 nts Pop,2 nts OKW,5 nts Boardwalk and 2 nts VWL. Lots of moving around but I wanted to check out hotels on this trip. Well whatever you decide have fun and maybe I'll see ya down there..... :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

If you must switch, do POR first and then GF. It seems like it would be a bit of a letdown to go from a Deluxe to a Moderate and lose the Monorail only to rely on buses.

Also, why not consider less time at the GF and pick a less expensive room at a Deluxe near Epcot? Why not AKL for a few days? Their rooms can run ~$150 during value season and it a beautiful place.

Finally Disney is happy to accept your money either way, so do what makes you HAPPY not CRAZY. If you're going to spend the money you want good memories, you don't want to be thinking what that $1,000 would have gotten you three months after you return.

Thanks. We decided to stay at GF the whole time. I don't know what I was thinking - that $99 a night just sounded so good. We couldn't have switched and done the mod first because we really wanted to be at GF for the 4th of July - no crowded parks just watching the fireworks from our own resort. Maybe next year we will try something new. We thought of YC split this year but I think we need to wait a few years until kids are older to enjoy SAB without having a nervous breakdown watching the, we also were going to split a stay with an AK deluxe savannah room but then dds saw the AK on the Travel Channel and really didn't like it (go figure). I think this year we will resort hop a little to get a better idea of what we'll do next year. Just resort anxiety disorder creeping its ugly head I guess.
