I don't consider a 1999 with 110,000 miles on it a clunker. I assumed you meant an old run down car. That's what I think of as a clunker. Anyways, it seems to me that taking the newer car with a warranty is the best option, unless it's a lease and you are trying to keep miles down. BTW, I bought a 1997 dodge stratus, 1 year old and later found out that it too was a rental. I had nonstop problems from that car for a few years until I finally got rid of it. Never again....
