Do you drink the milk?

Strange question I know!!!

DD (nearly 2) drinks full fat milk at home. We were planning on taking formula with us in case she wont drink the milk in Orlando.

I have used the semi-skimmed milk there in coffee but never used it on cereal. Does it taste very different? I know, cows are cows, but if the pasteurisation method is different I thought it might taste funny to us.

Any comments?

Did not try it myself as I really don't like the stuff and can just about manage skimmed in my tea - but always buy full fat for the boys and they didnot comment on it tasting different on their cereals - and believe me youngest would have definatly told me if it tasted different!!

I have only had it in coffee over there and it was fine. My two sons always drink it and they have never said it tasted different. I would just give her it though I definitely would not say does it taste different to her. :)

Hi

I found the milk no different from the UK - full fat & semi skimmed tasted the same to me.

Great! Looks like she will be drinking regular milk then. Much easier than formula!

I will probably take some sachets of formula (that you add to cooled boiled water) to use if we are out in the evening and I need to give her milk, saves worrying about keeping real milk cold. But in the villa milk from the fridge will be easier.

Thanks for your replies!

I dont drink milk, but the kids drink gallons of it and neither commented on it tasting different (and they are both fussy about certain brands here!!). DD was shocked when she ordered milk at a restaurant and they automatically gave her chocolate milk! Her face was a picture! She then made a huge point of ordering "WHITE milk" from then on!

the beer tastes ok to me never made me ill we only once or twice so the milk should not be a problem

they sell milk all over the place in Disney.. and just about any restuarant. Much more so that in the UK. There is really no need to take formula milk with you out and about.

I can't remember there being any difference either (not been since 2002). Besides even if they do process it differently unless it is UHT it wouldn't taste any different. But to be honest I'm not that sure they do process it any differently now because our milk is now processed differently from how it used to be processed. Just to explain that I read this on Sheffield Forum I think and apparently ours is now all homogenised not pasturised - the difference is something to do with the temperature it is heated to I think. If I am remembering correctly this was the process that has been used in the US for years so they would be absolutely no difference whatsoever.

Also wouldn't formula be classified as a dairy product so wouldn't be allowed through security unless it was needed for an infant.

Just a few thoughts! :earsgirl:
