We have been using the DDP since 2005 and we LOVE it!!! We used to save almost $500.00 with the DDP, but since they took away apps and we have to pay tips we will only save $300.00 this trip. But, we are still saving money, so we still like it.

This will be my third time getting it free! Although I would Pay out of pocket for the plan..

We are going in Jan 2009 and opted to do DDP this time around. My DH and I spent alot of money this Jan eating in restaurants and I wanted to have it all included this time around, my DS is 5yo and I couldn't feed him myself for what they charge.

We use the DDE card when eating onsite but dine off site a lot due to the sameness of all the menus in the restaurants.

we used it the first time in dec 2007 and have decided to use it again for our Dec trip this year:santa:

I've used both plans. In 2007 I used DDP twice once with my whole family, and then we went back in September last year and used free dining. I'm a planner so we didn't lose any type of credits. I've used Deluxe this year since the plan changed and I loved it. This next trip I'm doing one night of deluxe plan, and on a separate reservation using 6 days on regular DDP. I've made a budget using a spreadsheet that I received from a fellow diser and I think it works very well for us. We like both CS and TS (Prefer TS of course) if we choose to get appetizers we will just pay OOP for them. I'm looking forward to it and cannot wait to go again.

We used the DDP 2x last year, once for a 9 day trip in January and the 2nd time for a 10 day trip in October. We liked the plan and felt it was a good value, although we went when tips were included and you received an appetizer with your TS meals. It was an awful lot of food, and I hate to admit we wasted quite a bit of it. I think that, given the changes to the DDP and knowing that we really don't need that much food, we will go the OOP route for our next trip.

We did the same in March of last year. With tips and apps I did very well saving some money in the process. Some of the signature meals are prix fixe and using the 2 credits on them are nice. The ADR is nice as well. True, I did eat alot more than I usually do. Looking at the current plan I think I will just go OOP and order small amounts at any Table service I will attend.

This year I think we will be more flexable with our dining and just focus on a few character meals during the stay. I'll probably spend about 30-40% less during the whole trip and not have to plan every meal so I'm not "under spending" the meal plan.

I chose other - because we don't use the DDP - we do pay oop - but we use the DDE card. We love the card and it work way better for us than the DDP

Another "other" vote from me.

I'll gladly take it (and even book my trip around it) when it's being offered for free, but I dont think I would ever pay for it OOP.

It's more food than I really want or need and I tend to find I focus rather too much of my time and planning on the food and the ADR's - time and effort which should be spent enjoying the parks and resorts!

I voted "Yes, but we use the Deluxe DDP". We haven't actually used it yet, but that is what we have booked for our December 2008 trip. Deciding to use this was one of the very few things that I could get my DH's opinion on. Usually we don't eat at many TS's on our trip, but this time we wanted to try several new places. Also, I would prefer TS b/c you don't have to try and hunt down a table. We have 3 meals planned per day. We are going to be there for 8 days, so we should still be able to get done everything that we want to get done. We wrote down all the TS that we wanted to fit into this trip and the only way that we were able to do that was to go with the DlxDDP.

We love the DDP and won't go to Disney without it. We have the basic DDP for our upcoming trip in December, but we are thinking of trying the DLxDDP on our 2009 trip :).

I choose other. we purchase the disney dining experience. the way we eat at disney the discount is a better deal for us. The DDP is usually more food than we eat, so eating like we normally do with the discount is cheaper.
woohoo-us too!

For long trips we use the DDP because we enjoy toing a TS each day and it saves us money. For shorter day or two trips where we don't plan on doing more than one (or zero) TS meals, then no DDP.

i'm still a believer in the DDP...we like certain restaurants for dinner and i
think :confused3 we come out ahead...i also like prepaying altho i'm not wild about no appetizer and having to THINK about gratuities now:sad1:

:) I agree with all of the above...

I know we still come out ahead even without the appetizer and graduities...I took the time to add up all of our bills/graduities for our last trip...And we saved over $250 over a five night period...I believe our major savings with the plan is thanks to having two children under 10...The cost of their plan pays for itself in one meal per day...I am sure that the savings would not be nearly as much when the kids are over 10...

I do wish the appetizer was still included :guilty:

We've gone during free dining since the promo started - long trips of 10 days normally. We've enjoyed it very much and have learned to tailor it to our needs very well.

We weren't able to schedule a trip during the free dining this year as I can't take days off of school for it:rolleyes: , but we are going from 8/14-21 and are paying for the DDP.

I've added up what we would spend without it (we don't have a DDE card) and we do come out slightly ahead by adding on the plan...and this way we are guaranteed a TS meal every night we are there. Normally we would only do 1 or 2 TS meals and the rest would be CS.

I'm quite sure we will not be adding on the DDP when my kids are considered adults, though.

Loved it the way it used to be. Won't do it again unless it is all inclusive and has the appetizer back in. Currently the plan is no savings for us!

::yes::

We're going to try DDE this time around and see how we like it. We're also planning a mix of CS and 2TS restaurants for dinners.

I just like the fact that it is paid for and we don't have to factor food into our spending budget when we get to the parks.

I get a really good CM discount on it so I use it when the discount is offered. Otherwise we'll just eat offsite. We paid full price for it back in Feb and we came out ahead but ate a lot more than usual.

We LOVE the DDP! We have been to WDW many, many times and always eat TS for dinner so it's great to have a delicious meal and save money at the same time!
