Just wondering..

Do you do anything special on your first day at Disney? I've seen a few posts that mention always doing a special dinner or going to a favorite ride.

We haven't done anything 'special' on our arrival day in the past, but I was thinking I would kinda like to start a new tradition.

So..what, if anything, do you upon your big arrival at Disney?

We always go to the Magic Kingdom. :jumping1:
I just love walking down Main St and seeing the castle, you know just taking it all in.
Then we usually take a ride on the TTA :teeth:

On our arrival day we usually head over to the MK and stroll up Main Street to take pictures in front of the big green construction wall blocking the hub.
:D

We always, always do the Hoop-de-doo Revue on our first night in Disney. We've done that since our very first trip there when I was 4 and it's a time honored tradition with us :wizard:

LOL! Even funnier since it comes from a fellow Steelers fan!! :D

Sandy - that's kinda what we did last year, just went to MK as fast as we could get there so I could cry in front of Cindy's castle lol

Veronica - that is awesome! I'm so jealous! :D

We've never been to WDW. But, my plan is to eat at Chef Mickey's to begin our time with Mickey and to ride the monorail.
DS (5) LOVES trains.

Cant wait for June!!

We seem to get in at an odd time each year, so we hit Downtown Disney for some vacation starters, like autograph books and pens so that we are ready to hit those parks and meet those characters! We do a bit of shopping and send our postcards to family since we are soooo busy the rest of the week we would never remember then and our family back home would never get that "Wish you were here" note!

Well, this is our first trip to WDW. We're staying at the Poly. We plan to ride the monorial, get familiar with the hotel and then have dinner at Ohana's and simultaneously watch Wishes.

Next morning, off to Magic Kingdom.

Thanks for the great tips, Onlyoneforme. I forgot about the autograph book!! Good idea about the postcards too!

For us it depends on which resort we are staying in. If we are at the AKL we head over to the AK for the afternoon and just enjoy the relaxed atmosphare then head back to the lodge for a quick nap and to clean up before going out to a nice dinner. We are booked to eat at the Yachtsman Steakhouse on our first night this trip, but it is not always the same place.

Since we drive from SC, we arrive around 6:00 pm. After checking in, we head right over to DTD. Our first meal is always at Rainforest Cafe. For some reason, we can't bear to do it any other way. :D

I fly the red-eye in from the Seattle area, so I always check in early (has never been a problem, so far) take a nap, and then head to DD for the afternoon - for the evening I've always planned something "special" to look forward to that 1st night: 1st trip (w/ 2 girlfriends) we did HDDR - was a blast!, 2nd trip (solo) I attended MVMCP, and for my upcoming 3rd trip (solo) I have tickets my 1st night to LaNouba - can't wait! Seems the something special is different every trip - can't wait to start planning for #4! :flower:

Arrive on a Sunday around noon, settle in at Old Key West then go over to MK and catch boat to FW walk around and shop a little.Go to HDDR and then go on hayride. ::yes:: :wave2:

We go to DTD to relax, go shopping, and eat at a restraunt. Just get us in that "Disney Mood" so we can hit the parks.

check in, buy snacks and autograph books, read the literature in the room, check out our view and our balcony, then head out to Chef Mickey's for dinner, and then ride the monorail..............sometimes we stop off in the monorail resorts for strolls along their pools/beaches..........then we go set our Mickey wake up call, and get to bed so we can get up early for EMH!
