Do you cuss?

There are times when you just need to unleash that Mother of all swear words!!! Stepping on a Lego or plastic Barbie shoe with bare feet are just a few of my triggers!

I remember driving one with my oldest and one of her friends when they were very little! Some idiot pulled out right in front of me - I swerved so fast to avoid getting hit! Well I slipped and said the M-you know word! Realizing someone else's little one was in the car I quickly apologized! She said to me - sweet as an Angel - it's Okay Mrs. W - it's in the car! So apparently swearing in the car is acceptable! LOL. I made sure to tell the mom how sorry I was and she got a kick out of it thank goodness!!!

Yes! I am careful who I cuss around though..... Never my kids, parents, or anyone that I know it would make feel uncomfortable or that I do not know well.

When I am with my friends I have a bad potty mouth.

IU basketball has caused me to ramp it up a bit this year too.....

I swear a lot but I'm very picky where......

not at work
very seldom when the boys were growing up
not around certain people
not on the DIS ;)

:lmao:
Kneeling on a Lego is even worse than stepping on one. I had an imprint from that thing on my knee for the rest of the day. I had to swear. There were only certain words which could fully express how I felt when it happened.

I can't even imagine the pain!!!!

Interesting thread after my day today. Apparently a student of mine had written the biggie of all curse words on his notebook. Another teacher had erased it and he chose to rewrite it after she erased it. During our session in speech today I asked him if he knew what that word actually meant. We discussed the fact that many people are highly offended by the use of that word. We discussed the many uses of that word such as a noun, a verb, an adjective, an interjection, and in creative uses a conjunction. He finally agreed that he did not know the true meaning of that word. Suffice it to say we had a much more colorful vocabulary lesson than I had originally planned. :rotfl2:

Generally I do not. However if I am alone or maybe really mad at DH I will. Also, that Flappy Bird game has caused me to it a lot.

I'm in a mood. A few bad days at work and with the personal life not the best right now, the only things going through my head are a series of expletives. Out loud I try to work very hard not to do it around my son, but when it's just adults, and I'm in this kind of mood, the words just flow out like a regular part of my vocabulary.

Growing up I was around several adults that cussed, but my dad did very rarely. He said it was best to save those kind of words so that way when you did say the person you said it to would take notice of the seriousness of the situation. It's true also... whenever my dad said a swear word (I can only remember a few times) I shut my mouth and listened.

Fess up... do you have a potty mouth?

No, never - and neither did my parents.

Disneyslp, I'm a school SLP as well. I have a student with autism who uses an objectionable word, not a curse word. He doesn't use it to call someone a name either. He has an imaginary family that he calls "tards". I have had to explain that that can hurt some peoples feelings and it isn't a nice word!

I do not curse at work and don't curse much around my family but I have done it. There are some milder curse words that I would prefer my girls to use than some hateful words that some use all the time. Like "I hate them (or that)", that sucks, stupid, idiot, and the word that I referenced above.

"I don't swear just for the hell of it. Language is a poor enough means of communication. I think we should all the words we've got. Besides, there are damn few words that anybody understands." That quote always stuck with me from Inherit the Wind.

**** yes I do. Thanks to Deb from Dexter I have a whole new arsenal to use when I find it necessary.

No, not really. When something really tragic, dramatic or emotional happens, I might let one slip, but it feels unnatural to me to use curse words as an everyday form of communication. It also makes me very uncomfortable when I hear the f bomb being dropped every other word.

I do use the word "crap" an awful lot- probably more than I should!! I am always afraid I will slip up while doing my job- preschool teacher! ;)

I try not too if I can. I find those that use foul language in public lacking in class. Do what you want in private but I don't wanna hear it out in public.

I'm a school SLP as well. And yes, I do cuss. But never at work.

I spend much of my time choosing my words very carefully. Other times, not so much. ;)

Hell, yes! Like a drunken sailor:rotfl: Just don't get me mad:)

I curse only rarely, and only when under extreme duress. I don't think that people who don't curse are snobby; I think that people who do curse as part of their regular language have no self-control, no class, and makes the person sound less intelligent. YMMV.

I have plenty of self control, have more class than most everyone I know, and have a genius level iq. I curse all the time. Sorry 'bout it.

Well, well! It's a small world for Southern school SLPs!
