Gonna make some ADRs on-line. Do I count the baby in number of guests?

yes...they need to count all persons in the restaurant for fire codes, and they need to allow room for a high chair or infant seat. :thumbsup2

Yes they are included as people sitting at the table. Doesn't matter if they eat or not.

Even tiny babies in arms count as far as the fire code regulations.

Everyone counts on an ADR, regardless of age. If someone gave birth, picked up the kid and went directly to a character meal, they'd need to have the baby on the reservation.

Not that if the baby wasn't included the party would automatically be turned away, because they probably wouldn't - but if a party of four arrives as a party of four plus a baby, they'll go down as a party of five. If the restaurant is at capacity and can't accommodate a party of five (yes, that happens sometimes, although not often) then they'll be turned away or someone (probably not the baby) will have to sit out.

I can understand the whole infant counts as a person kind of thing just given space (even if the baby it attached to your lap all night), but I can understand it. What I DON'T understand and have no patience for is that if you are a party of 5 with in an infant - you are a party of 6 subject to their automatic gratuity.

Automatic gratuity for a "guest" that doesn't order, drink, sit on their own...that aspect of it ALWAYS annoyed me.
