Do you confirm your PS's before leaving???

We are leaving for Disney on 12/10 and I have 5 dinner PS's and one character breakfast (for which they actually sent me confirmation in writing).

For the five dinners, should I call their dining number to reconfirm, or am I being too much of a control freak???

Also, we have a party of nine including 4 kids -- are they pretty good at getting you seated right away? Two of the kids are under 4 and not good at waiting--just wondering.

Thanks!

Yes, DW just confirmed yesterday. And she found a number of them to have the wrong name (misspelled to create a different name). We try to have the PS# with us when we dine. But we have forgotten and left them in the room.

Better safe than sorry.

I would. I called last week because I had mis-placed one PS confirmation number. The CM had a devil of a time finding it because my PS's are under FOUR different names and/or spellings of my name. I also had one fixable error - I had called to change a PS and the CM I spoke with then apparently cancelled the wrong one. Though I was quite clear about my name, it is hyphenated and one CM used just the first part, another used just the 2nd part, two misspelled it completely. I am gonna call one more time right before we leave. Honestly I have been extremely frustrated with the quality of people answering the dining phones at Disney. No one has been friendly or helpful - except the last one - and some have had questionable competence. Very disappointing for this first-timer, hoping our actual vacation experience is very different.

About a week before I leave I just give a quick call to confirm the PS. And this past trip I was sure glad I did. It was DH's first time since we became DVC Members. I wanted everything to be perfect! Well two of our PS's were messed up. The dates were incorrect as were the Restaurants! We were very fortunate to be able to get PS in a short timeframe. I would not have been happy if we couldn't have corrected the problem. :(

So yes; I always confirm!!

I also confirm ours before we leave. Most were okay but one CM had messed up 2 or 3 of our PS's. She had us listed as staying at a completely different resort (one we'd never stayed at) and had our phone number radically wrong also. It was easily fixed by the CM I confirmed with.

I always comfirm EVERYTHING, including PS, a few days before we leave!! :D

I didn't confirm the 12 I had and I had no problems. I did bring my conf#'s in case there was a problem but there never was.

I never reconfirm since priority seatings aren't exactly real reservations. It just means they will try to get you into your scheduled time as soon as possible. Bring your confirmation numbers with you and show up 10-15 minutes early. That usually helps.
Most times we usually wait a few minutes prior to being seated. It really all depends on the restaurant, time and how busy it is.

Seven trips and dozens of PS meals and we have never confirmed one or had a problem because we did not.

I didn't confirm ours before we went, and we had no problems. Most of the time they didn't even need the confirmation number, they just looked up our name. Of course some woman in front of me at the GF tea, complained that a few of hers had been wrong. Maybe I had great CMs taking my orders.:)

I called to confirm for one trip (I had made quite a few changes and wanted to make sure everything was straight) and I call for big things like Candlelight Processional. If I had a party of 9 I probably would call to confirm more.

Do what makes you happy! If you'll worry about it, just call to be safe. If you really don't want to take the time to call, I think the chances are pretty small that there'd be any problems. :D

I strongly suggest calling and confirming each PS by giving the PS# and asking that they read it back to you.
I will give you a perfect example. You book at Yachtsman Steakhouse, but when you arrive at the podium, you find out there was an error, they accidentally booked you at Yacht Club Galley, both start with the letter "Y" and it is a very easy error to make. Add to this, it's a holiday, or very busy and your a party >5 ppl. They can't accommodate your party size, and now you are not dining where your initially wanted to dine.
Bringing your CF#'s is a great practice, but if these numbers just confirm that something is wrong, there are some cases where the podium will be helpless in making any sort of correction when you arrive 15 minutes prior to your time.
Call, it's worth a few minutes of your time.

We have taken many trips and had many PS with group sizes averaging 8 or more and never called to confirm. We have never encountered any problems. I have also switched things around numerous times and still everything was fine when we got there.

I always reconfirm PS before we leave---just to be sure. It takes some time but worth the hassle. Have fun.

While most PS are recorded correctly, there are always the few that have errors. I would definitely call and confirm, it won't take too long and it's much easier to fix now, rather than when you are standing in the restaurant.

I am calling to confirm that I have the rights numbers more than I am to see if they have the right Numbers

Yes!!! Confirm prior to arriving. When I confirmed my PS ressies, they
had 3 of my reservations under Nikki and not Vicki. I was glad I checked!

It gives you a peace of mind, and only takes 5-10 minutes to do. Well worth it, cause it was such hard work getting them all in the 1st place!

We've had some major problems in the past (a PS being cancelled, a PS being forgotten or not taken down, etc - for holidays), so if we have an important meal, we make sure to check now. With how much we eat at Disney, they're generally VERY good about it, but there are always the random slipups.

For our example, we're going to Le Cellier for NYE and California Grill the Saturday before Valentine's Day. I'm *definitely* going to be checking those. However, we're going to Boma on the .. 18th, I think, and we won't bother.

If you ARE a control freak, then by all means call - it's not worth creating extra worry as you are starting your trip, and as proven by the responses above, it is easily accomplished with a single call.

Absolutely!!! I called today and 2 out of the 5 PS we had were wrong. One was scheduled for 2/9/05 instead of 12/9/04. Not even close. And of course, when they went to schedule something on 12/9 it was booked solid. Oh Well. At least I knew ahead of time!!!
