Do You Call To Check On Your Waitlist?

And if you do, what do you say? Do you say I am calling to check on my waitlist or do you just check availability without mentioning your waitlist?

I am waitlisted for 2 nights 2 weeks from now. I have a backup cash reservation, but would prefer my waitlist to come through so I can add the dining plan to it.

Just wondering if I should call or leave it alone.... :confused3

I would just call and ask! I've done it a few times and you should not feel guilty! I have waitlisted 3 times and only gotten a message once. The other times I've been informed when I called, either for that or another reason.
Good Luck!

I would call once to make sure I am on the waitlist correctly and after that I would just check the members' website to see if it came through.

Good luck on your waitlist request.

i am currently waitlisted for thanksgiving week and generally check the dvc members' website twice a day to see if it's been updated.....although i am ALWAYS tempted to give MS a call - just in case! (up till now, i have managed to beat back the temptation....)

I try to check as frequently as possible. Because you never know if you have been bumped from the list.

We've been on the waitlist since May for VWL. I checked the website daily. I did call once to check after someone posted about their WL being inadvertently cancelled. I just said I would like to check my waitlist. MS said no problem but WL still hasn't come through yet. So we are still on it.

Thanks for the replies. I am not on auto confirmation because I will need to borrow some points and I don't want them to do that without notifying me first. So checking the website won't do me any good.

Also, I was on another waitlist and got a call a week ago saying it came in. When I called MS back, they had the wrong night! (I had a res. for tues - sat and was waitlisted for the previous monday and they offered me the previous sunday. Made no sense.)

pirate: I was wait listed for about six weeks for presidents day(sunday and monday).
We had T-Th nights in a 2BR @ OKW. I kept checking online but nothing. Last friday I called MS and asked if I was still on the wait list. She said "I can't believe this but both of your nights just came in" I got a confirmation number with her immediately and am very relieved. It won't hurt to try and call MS. Good luck. :happytv:

I'd call and check. We were waitlisted on a reservation last year and with about three weeks left to go, I started calling each day to ask. On the fourth day when I called, the girl said "hang on, let me check something for you," and she then came back on the phone and said we were all set and our "fairy godmother had granted out waitlist request." I was thrilled.

I've had waitlist requests fulfilled without calling, but once I get close, I'll always call to check every day or two because maybe my fairy godmother will be working again ;-)!

Can someone please tell me where you check the waitlist on the members web site? I'm on a Thanksgiving waitlist, but don't see where to check it online. Thanks!

I am on a wait list for March, they had my first weekend available and my last weekend, but I needed the week in between. They will atuomatically add it on for me, but I am impatient and have to call. I have called 3x in a week. They say you can call everyday, they don't care. The 3rd time I called I said I want to check my reservations, she asked if I was checking the waitlist. I told her yes and she said it still hasn't come through, as I was hanging up she said wait let me check something. She came back and said they had 3 of the 6 days needed, but they were broken up days. Example: day 2,4 and 6 was available but day 1,3 and 5 wasn't. She asked if I wanted those days and stay on the waitlist for the rest of the time or just wait for the whole time to become available. I took the days she had and I am waiting for the others. I will call back Monday to see if the other days are there. So what I am trying to say is when calling to check on your waitlist always ask what days they do have, if not they will wait until the whole time becomes available before they give it to you.

After you log in, click on the link for "My DVC". Once that page loads, click on the link for "Points" and then the link for "Vacation Details".

If your waitlist has come through, you will see that you have a reservation for that day in the "Upcoming Vacations" section.

Best wishes -

Exactly. We ere waitlisted for a 2 bedroom for NYE this year and I never got a call. When I called to about something else they told me it was available. I was really happy but then i was wondering why I had never gotten a call? Maybe it had only come available that very moment? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: who knows??

We were waitlisted for 12/27 - 12/30 for any studio or a standard view 1-bedroom at BWV. I was calling almost everyday near closing time. The other day when I called the CM said BOTH requests were available. :earseek: I agree with the posters here...call if you'd like particularly 'cause it's getting close. I just say right up front, "I would like to check my waitlist, if you don't mind." The CM's are always kind and, without fail, always reassure me it is no trouble at all. I think in the ten years we have been DVC members, I got one, maybe two, not-so-nice CM's. Also, only once my waitlist did not come through and that was for a Grand Villa at OKW. All other times came through including one four days before. I feel very lucky and I hope you will be too! :sunny:

After my experiences this week, I would definitely call. I'm still confused about whether or not a cancellation goes into the general inventory, or the room is held for someone on the waitlist. I suspect it goes back into inventory, and the waitlist people get it when someone sits down daily to work on it. A few days of my waitlist came through last week (1st week of Dec). While booking it, the CM said, "Let me check that week again." She got me a Tuesday, Dec 5, 1bdrm, BCV. Maybe the waitlist had been exhausted for that particular night, but I'd be surprised if it were so.

Earlier this week, I called Member Services about an unrelated issue, and was told, "Oh, you called about your Waitlist"? No one had called me about the waitlist, and like the OP, I'll have to borrow points to make it happen, so it's not set for automatic reservation. The CM said that it was noted that a call had been made and a message left, but it wasn't on my machine. And the my waitlist was getting ready to expire.

Also, unless you've told them to do an auto confirmation, it won't show up at the website.

I'm in the camp of people who believe that Disney's waitlist is either a manual effort or a batch program....either way, calling in seems to vastly improve the chances of getting what one wants.

I only say this because I have been on the WL two times now, both for over 9 months and I never got a call for either one.

Thanks to all for the encouragement. I have called twice and no luck. But both CMs encouraged me to call back. I am leaving on friday for the first part of my trip to Vero, so I don't know if I will keep calling after that.

I keep checking the disney website for cash reservations - and I know that is a whole separate thing - but I keep hoping if the room is going to sit empty, that they will change it back to points for me  I know, I know, silly. I haven't given up hope yet though :bitelip:
