Do you book your trip with a TA or do you call Disney yourself?

I have been to the world twice. The first time it was a gift and I was not involved in the planning process at all. For my second trip I did my own research and called Disney and booked the package on the phone. The only thing I did seperate was the airline tickets.

How do most of you guys plan your trip?

I plan it all myself. I know more about Disney that most TAs, and I like the planning process too.

Our first time in 2000, we went thru a TA. Last 2 times, I just did it over the 'net. HOwever, I did call Disney this year as I wanted to upgrade to POFQ.

We use a TA - and if you are going to use one, be sure to use one who specializes in Disney - such as Dreams Unlimited, who sponsor these boards, or (removed per webmaster request) - all they do is Disney - and they monitor these boards, and are constantly on the lookout for ways to save you money.

i've always been a do-it-yourselfer 'til this upcoming trip... i saw a poster here on the dis who was so knowledgeable i was led to ask if she was a TA and she was and she has been amazingly helpful, saved us a bundle, and got me all the princess meals i wanted!

Book yourself, and usually better off without the package. Work out package details vs. doing it separately without the package. And research, research, research!

I am SOOOO glad I used a TA as I have changed resorts/schedules/packages numerous times...and she can even make PS for us too!!! I have found it helpful but I must admit, I feel like I am keeping her abreast of the goings on at Disney

Same here. When someone asks for my help in planning their trip, I tell them I can do anything a TA can. Not sure if that's 100% true, but it sounds good!

I always book myself. When I comoare what I would get with a package verses what I book myself, I always get it cheaper booking myself.

If you read the DIS boards thoroughly you will know more than most TA's. I always do it myself..& it's fun planning. I also have free long distance on my cell so I do not mind calling 407 numbers!

I always use a TA. I use to be one at a younger age!
Did not pay enough for me, so I want back to school.
I know that I know way more about DISNEY then TA after booking my trip today.TA thought I was crazy when I said Disney is ofering free dinning!
He said I know they have a dinning package but lets look into this.
He was amazed~
I think they get better deals on airfare and I feel safer I guess booking with a TA.
Most people I think are afarid to go to a TA.
People think it cost and most are free.

I always, always, ALWAYS book with a TA.

While these baords are a great way to share info and stay up-to-date, sometimes the info is incorrect or ill-informed - like that fact before this dining free YMP code came out, you couldn't just apply codes to a lot of package reservations. Room only seesm to be the way to go for codes...

I use a Disney specialist (yes one who knows as much or more as we on the DIS know lol) to book things for me. I do all the pre-planning and then hand it over. That way I don't have to worry about being up to call for PS's or fretting about a code coming out. If it's out she will apply it and she rocks at getting those tough PS's too.

Yes Suzanne - you totally can. There is another thread floating around with the same question here somewhere... you basically have to write a letter to Disney guest services telling them who you are handing your reservations over to. Just make sure you contact the specific agency first and get a dedicated agent.
