Do you book a trip just b/c you got a good pin code?

I am always tempted to do it, but don't. We weren't going back until June 2012, to hopefully stay at Art of Animation ( if it were done) and see what was new in Fantasyland. But then we got a pin for free dining for summer, and I'm just so tempted. Other vacations price out to be about just a few hundred less. I know DH wants to go other places, but the girls and I love Disney.
I did call, and the only value left for our dates is ASSp, which I hate. Maybe I'll call back.
Who else gave in to the temptation?

I did just that last year when I got a room discount PIN. I booked the Poly. Of course, they eventually gave a General Public discount that was the same, but that's alright. The PIN had the desired effect (from Disney's perspective that is).

I also booked room on 12/31/10, just before the room only discount dropped from 35% to 30% off. We're going April 2-9. Guess I'm just a sucker for a discount. Heck, at those prices I can't afford NOT to go, right?:lmao:

I came sooo close to booking a May trip this year in addition to our Sept. trip already planned. It was the fact that we have APs this year and I found killer airfare. Almost pulled the trigger, but at the last minute remembered we have a long distance wedding to pay for and that squelched it. So glad you were able to take advantage! There is absolutely nothing wrong with knowing a bargain when you see it and taking advantage of it!!;) Have fun.:woohoo:

My daughter got the 35/40 PIN and I booked what I refer to as my "placeholder trip". I have no idea if we'll actually go or not. I just wanted to avoid a situation where later in the summer I wanted to take a trip and couldn't get a deal as good.

It definitely tipped me over. We had talked about a family trip and then I got a mailer with the 40% PIN Code. I booked a trip within a week back in January. Now it's just weeks away!!!:cool1:

YES! Dh had already agreed to go back to Disney in Nov./Dec., so when I got the room only PIN in January, I jumped right online and booked the trip! We'll do a split stay-CSR and our first time at the Poly. :) Without the PIN, we likely would have considered doing the trip but not a sure thing.

Haha...yes...I book 2 trips no matter what and convince DH later! LOL

Whether it is a good AP rate, FD, or a PIN...I am always booking lots of WDW vacations! :surfweb::rotfl:

I just booked this am b/c we got the free dining pin! We decided on CSR & then paid to upgrade to the DDP. So much for free dining but then again, we could never eat for $400!

We weren't going back until June 2012, to hopefully stay at Art of Animation ( if it were done) and see what was new in Fantasyland.

I was totally thinking that we should wait to go until 2012 for the same reasons AND because we are planning an expensive family event this year - BUT I just got the FD Pin for this summer and I've already contacted my TA.:rotfl2:

The only thing holding me up is the cost to fly :scared1:. We're thinking about driving instead.

I would NEVER be considering it - if I hadn't gotten the Pin. :headache:

Spring 2010 I received a snail mail postcard for free QSDP through mid-August. We already had a late August trip planned so I ignored it. Of course I didn't throw it out being the Disney obsessed person that I am. Thank goodness I didn't because a mere few days later I got a DING from my home airport to MCO which is something I've NEVER seen before and actually haven't seen since either so of course we booked the flights and then booked the WDW package using the pin.

That's the only time we've booked based on a pin. We had gotten several others the previous couple of years that's the first we booked with. Interestingly enough, we haven't gotten a pin since.

In a way I'm kind of grateful I didn't get a summer pin so I'm not tempted to go before our August trip. Flight prices are insane for the summer anway.

Yep, if the Pin is a good deal, then I always find a way to book it and go! LOL

Yes. We haven't been to WDW since last February and this last year has not been one of our best - we had to skip our Thanksgiving FD trip. We had a blast with FD before and when we got the new FD PIN DW caved and we are going in a couple months!!!

The PIN does make it easier to make that call!! I can't recall a trip that we didn't get a discount or a PIN number.

from OP-
Well, I caved and put a deposit down. I have a month to change my mind and get the money back. I wish I didn't have to worry about airfare, but the drive is just too much for us.
We've had discounts before, including 40% off Christmas week, but the FD seems to be the best we've had. I feel like an addict who has no control. I'm not going to tell my kids until I'm sure we're going.

Oh yes, we just went in Sept and I said no Disney this year. Well,I got the 40% off deluxe pin and my hand just grabbed the phone to book the Poly! Lol. But to OP if I had to fly or was really not able to afford it I would not have done it. We are lucky to be 10 hours away so we don't fly any more. Also, we are retired now so dates are more flexible.

I have sort-a. I kept tabs on the DVC rental board like an eagle. When someone rents there points out for 6$ a point, or a prev made ressie for super cheap it pushes me over the edge. (Due to rental rules this happens less..)

I have also upgraded my FQ ressie to a BWV 1 bedroom due to a discount, it was only 1K more for 11 nights.. The pin got more dough.. but it was already booked.
