Do you believe in ghosts?

Disneybound, where in WV are you? I went on an investigation in Harpers Ferry, in a hotel that's now (unfortunately) been demolished and is being rebuilt. Had some absolutely INSANE experiences there, and then when listening to the EVPs.. *shudder*. Heard my own name being said 3 seperate times in different parts of the hotel, and other people listened and heard the same thing.

I've had experiences since I was a kid. When I was 4, my favorite playmate was a little boy named Timmy. My parents thought Timmy was just an imaginary friend until one day, I told them that Timmy's head was missing. Turns out, a few years prior to my birth a little boy named Timmy had died from a gunshot wound to his head, his father had shot him and the other kids, then turned the gun on himself. We moved not long after that.

I know this isn't truly "funny" however if my child had an imaginary friend and one day said "oh by the way her head is missing" I would be like what the hell???:scared1: I can only imagine the faces of your parents when you rolled that one off the tongue. LMAO:rotfl2:

I once smelled a strong rose scent at a place where a ghost was said to wear a rose perfume. I never could find the source (no rose bushes or flowers of any kind or women wearing perfume or air fresheners and so on) but I don't see why a ghost would continually smell a certain way either. But assuming that I'm not delusional, it was definitely there.

I've never understood that either, but then again I suppose we're trying to look for logic and rationality in an irrational and illogical phenomenon. It could be that smells are the easiest thing for spirits to conjure when they want to mainfest themselves. :confused3 Also, research has shown that the sense of smell is the one that is most closely linked with memory so maybe that is related somewhow.

I don't believe (because I've never seen a ghost), nor do I disbelieve. I do think, though, that there is so much about the universe that we cannot begin to understand, so I'm certainly open to the possibility that ghosts do exist.

I'm about 30 minutes from Harper's Ferry! What hotel was it? THis whole area is known for paranormal activity. Major history here and not of the pleasant sort. You should check out Antietam when you get the chance. I've never had the opportunity to do any investigations there, but I have friends that have and I've seen a lot of the evidence there. All I can say to that is WOW!

It was Hill House, which is (ironically) up at the top of a hill overlooking the river. I can't remember the street names since I didn't drive, but it was a huge location. So sad that it's demolished now. I want to get up to Antietam soon, but since my DH is not a believer it's hard to convince him to go, and to find a sitter!

I am a pretty practical person but I have had too many experiences to not believe something. DD seems to be particularly receptive. When she was a tiny baby, she would nap in the middle of our big bed (in a bolster so she couldn't roll). One day DH came home and we were standing and admiring our perfect child () when she started "talking" to the ceiling. Now you might think she was just babbling at the shadows but DH and I turned to each other and both said, she is talking to my/your mom! It was so odd that we both had the same thought.

She also feels and sometimes sees our beloved first lab all the time. She will say, "Oh, Sammy is in the van with us!" or "Sammy is downstairs"

The biggest "event" was a few years ago. DD was upstairs, I was in the kitchen, dogs with me. DD had been sassing me silly and I was fed up. From the upstairs hall, I hear her say "Mom! Why did you do that!" Umm, what? "Mom, why did you grab my elbow?" She said a cold hand grabbed her elbow while she was in the midst of giving me a hard time! :scared1: DH and I decided it was his mom again, this time telling her to shape up and cut the sass! :lmao:

I have felt my dear great-grandma a few times, once she patted my cheek when I helped an old lady who was confused.

I don't know the answer but I do think there is something besides what we can see.
