Do you avoid parks with EMH?

  • We always avoid EMH parks

  • We avoid parks that offer EMH in the AM

  • We avoid parks that offer EMH in the PM

  • We always use EMH to our advantage

  • We don't plan according to EMH; we go by what works for us

I just finalized our itinerary for our upcoming trip to WDW. We'll be there from Dec 25-30, one of the craziest times of the year to visit Disney.

I made up our schedule based on which parks offer EMH and decided that we'd go to the parks on those days and try to use the EMH to our advantage.

Did I make a mistake? Should I have gone against which parks offer EMH?

Please take into account that its just my boyfriend and I going (no kids to worry about) and this is NOT our first time to Disney.

We have only been to WDW one time, but when we went, I planned all our days according to the EMH. THis is just FYI for you. I think the next time we go, I will try not going to the parks with EMH. But I don't know if it really makes a difference.

I think morning EMH will be invaluable to you during that most busiest week of the year. The parks are going to be so crowded anyway that avoiding one park isn't going to help you much (because no matter where you go, you'll find heavy crowds.)

The good news is that a lot of people aren't early risers, so if you can get there early, you'll get a lot done before the crowds get heavy later in the morning.

Thanks so much for the replies!

I figure, WDW is going to be jam-packed as it is the week that I'll be there, so it won't really matter which park I'm in anyway.

We don't need to see ALL of the attractions, we have a few on our "must see" list and if whatever we can see in addition to that, we'll be happy with. We'd like to take our time and enjoy the holiday decorations in WDW, being that this is our first time there during the Christmas season.

I just don't know. Last year we went to AK during evening extra hours (before EE opened) and it was one of the best experiences I have ever had in a park. Every ride was essentially a walk-on, and the foot traffic wasn't bad. This past year (after EE opened) we went, and it was gridlock. We couldn't do anything, so we left. I am very confused about extra hours... I think it is safe to say that they can be hit or miss...

We stayed for the Magic Kingdoms evening extra magic hours in September. We were able to pretty much walk on to everything that we wanted to see. It was very nice. It took an hour to get back to the resort (on disney buses) when we left. The next night we went and stayed until close (dd3 loves Wishes) and it took us an hour and 45 minutes to get back. So, we really enjoyed the park time but not so much the time getting home. We would do it again, though.

Does it depend on the time of the year mostly ? We're going during the most crowded week of the year and I'm worrying. We've planned to do almost all the morning EMHs because I thought we could, for once, use jet lag to our advantage. Now I'm not so sure.

We always go to the park with EMH in the am right as soon as it opens. We do as many rides as we can, and as it starts to fill up, we park hop to another park, Many time the one that had EMH the day before. We have done this for many years, and it always seems to work out well. If you are not early risers, and plan on arriving at the parks around 10:30 to 11, I would avoid the EMH park at all costs. :)
