Greetings....

I'm always hoping that DVC merchandise & marketing depts. will see that there is a market for DVC products!

I mean... all they have do is read these boards & threads every once in a while .... this is the best focus group, right?

I just want some cool DVC clothes & products. I know that they will cost a bit more but still want them ... Anybody feel like I do ?

Oh yeah, I would love to see a DVC product catalog!

Dude

My wife and I are new to the DVC. I was wondering about the merchandise. Are the DVC resorts the only place you purchase DVC merchandise or is there another source?

We vacationed at the Wilderness Lodge in Oct. Bought into DVC in Nov. Dec I was back in FL for my first cruise. Before and after the cruise we toured Vero Beach. I bought the DVC t-shirts, pins, etc there.

Where is all this "member merchandise"?
It seems that when we first joined in '95, there was a lot of items in the OKW
gift shop. But, the last few trips it was only a few T-shirts and Jackets. Do the
other resorts (BWV, WLV, VB etc>) carry additional member items?

Each resort typically carries a few different items, usually with that resort's emblem. OKW has the largest variety of merchandise with DVC on it, though. However, they do tend to include OKW on it too, which isn't desireable for us BWV members. ;) I have accumulated my DVC collection over the years, and I find that I treasure it more because it was difficult to come by. Not that I wouldn't be first in line if they came out with some cool new stuff!! :D

I've also watched the DVC merchandise selection shrink significantly over the years.

Eventually, shirts/jackets get outgrown or just plan worn out.

In the past, you'd be able to get certain Disney Vacation Club items monogrammed with "Member". It was an additional cost, but well worth it.

I don't recall seeing this offered in awhile.

A few months ago we saw DVC items in the BW gift shop, some had "member" embroidered under the BWV logo.

We all know what the DVC resorts have been offering members over the past few years. I'm like... we're members, we are going to come more often than most. Why not offer us a different selection of merchandise (and more of it) every now and then.

I think offering the new leather/canvas bag, luggage tag & guidebook was a step in a good direction. IMHO, I think a new (navy blue) cool windbreaker, fitted ball caps, fanny pack, pin set of resorts or day planner w/ point chart & images would have been better (imho). I understand that DVC offers some pretty cool items only to inhouse sales staff.

More than likely, I'm going to purchase WDW items. If more DVC products were available, I would probably purchase them before the WDW items. I know that it probably wouldn't be cost effective (we are a small group percentage wise ) to produce all of the different products but I can wish, can't I ?

Oh yeah, DarthGoofy.... You can call MS and ask them for the ph# for the different DVS resort stores and call them direct ... I have.

I've already requested that they add "I own a piece of the Magic" shirts like the reps who are trying to schedule appointments wear - I told them that we would be able to advertise at our regular homes and maybe peak some interest for them. Never did hear back from the rep I was talking to about the idea on my last trip tho.

Iwanted to get a DVC jacket for DH for Christmas and finally got to someone at Disney Online( on the phone) who called the store at OKW found the jacket, sent a runner to pick it up and shipped it to me ( for a handsome price!) in time. When I asked him about more items and a more convenient way of getting the DVC stuff he told me it changes to frequently for them to make a catalog. I would love more merchandise!! And away to get it when we're not in the Park.

The DVC jackets only come in white, and are very expensive for a light jacket ($115). They would sell a lot more of them if they came in at least another color (blue, green, black).

I agree! More colors would sell more jackets. The white is beautiful jacket , but I can see the cleaning bills now!! I didn't think the price was outrageous since it is a well made jacket.

They "have" more DVC merchandise, they just don't "sell" it. And I really wonder why. We cruised on the Disney Magic this past October. At the DVC meeting they played a Jeopardy-like game and gave out some really neat prizes. I answered four questions correctly and won luggage tags (different than the one available now on the DVC website), insulated can holders, a mousepad and a Vero Beach tote bag. They also gave everyone there a really nice DVC member baseball cap. They also had DVC beach towels, but I didn't win one of those. The mousepad is my favorite, as it shows OKW, BWV, Vero Beach and Hilton Head. Guess they were trying to get rid of them, since VWL and BCV weren't represented.

These are the type of things I would like to see for sale, smaller things that are cheaper. I'm just not interested in a $115 jacket or a $40 tote bag.

Oh, we also added points at VWL while on the cruise and were given a really neat DVC photo album for adding on!

I would love to see a DVC merchandise catalog. I know that you can call the resorts and order from the gift shop that way. But if you haven't been in awhile you may not even know what exactly they offer. Plus I like to see a picture of what I am ordering. If they don't want to mail out a catalog they could always have a merchadise page on the Members Only website. I've been tempted to buy the new bag that they are offering, but without a picture to see it first I doubt if I will.

I think that some of us are talking about different things. I'd like to see more DVC items without the specific resort mentioned.

In the beginning ...(I feel like Moses, LOL), they had some great stuff. If you look at the DVC logo, you'll see the colors of purple, torquoise and yellow. They had polo shirts in the different colors with the DVC logo on them. Those had the option of having "member" added. After 10 years, our's are looking pretty washed out.

They've had some great jackets over the years. I have a purple one, and I remember a nice navy blue one that the torquoise on the inside of the collar.

Oh well, we can always dream.:)

You got to figure that most people who buy DVC want to buy DVC stuff! These are people that are visiting often. I don't get it! When I was at the BW in October, most of the stuff was White! White is nice but not for my family! A white beach towel would be a mess before I got home. The only thing navy was a swimsuit that said members.

I haven't seen anything for kids. I think they could have really cute shirts that said something about "being home" My 8 yr. old is really into the fact that we "own" part of disney!

I thought that the white jacket that is available now looked a bit too much like the "Member's Only" jackets that were stylish in the 80's. I would be interested in something a little more "hip."

As much as I love the Boardwalk, I haven't purchased much of the "Boardwalk" logo stuff because it doesn't have the DVC logo on it. To me, they are just the typical resort stuff that every resort has. There was only one shirt available that had the DVC logo and BWV underneath-- I bought that one, of course! :D I like the DVC stuff without a resort mentioned too.

You know what I'd like to see-- a nice baseball cap with the DVC logo embroidered on it. Nothing bright or colorful, but perhaps a khaki colored one with khaki embroidery. I think that would be very cool.

Now, if only someone cared about MY opinion..... ;)

And...it's not like we wouldn't wear the merchandise when we are in our hometowns - doesn't Disney think that the free advertising would be worth it? Seems that we would be doing them a service in a way - we pay for the merchandise and then wear it - thus advertising DVC. I luv talking about the license plate on my car when anyone asks - I always finish with - Check it out - it's a great way to take future vacations! :)
