My DH and I will be at the Marriott Grande Vista from Nov 21-Dec 5, 2003 and really don't want to have to rent a car. We are planning on purchasing 5 day hopper plus passes to WDW. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what are the best alternate ways of getting to and from the park?

What we really want is to rent gas scooters. Does anyone have any info as to where we can rent them?

If I were in your shoes, I would probably rent the car. With the 5 day hopper plus passes, you might want to come and go at the parks at will. The car would certainly give some flexibility.

As to the gas scooters, someone else will have to answer that.

Enjoy.

Welcome to the boards, brisa, from another newcomer!

For the scooters, you might try here http://www.orlandoscooterrentals.com/ If they don't have what you want, maybe they know someone who does.

The Marriott Grande Vista is not one of the Downtown Disney hotels, is it? Even so, they may have a shuttle service for their guests. It's not likely to be anywhere near as convenient as WDW resort transportation, however. You could ask them and if they do, maybe it'll work out fine for you. But a lot of the guide books, as well as the people in the know on these boards, say that it's worth the extra money to stay onsite. I know it's a real vacation for me to just relax and let Disney do the driving! :) Scooters sound like a lot of fun, though.

You'll be there two weeks. I'd think a car would almost be a necessity to get around to the other places you want to visit in Central Florida. You can try http://www.golynx.com/ for the public buses for getting around the Orlando area.

how do you plan on getting to the hotel from the airport. Roundtrip towncar service is approximately $85 round trip. When you talk about renting a scooter are you talking about something similar to a Vespa? Just remember if there are two of you and you are each on a separate scooter you will need to pay a separate parking fee for each scooter. Towncar service plus 2 scooter rentals could be very pricey.

I would just go with an economy car.
