Do we check in at the front desk?

Hello everyone,
We are leaving for Disney tomorrow. The last time we were there, it took quite awhile to check in at the front desk, and I noticed most folks that were dropped off with us, did not check in. Can we avoid having to check in at the front desk, if we check in online? If so, where do our bags go? Our flight arrives at 9 AM. Do we just get off the magical transportation bus, and get in line for the bus at the theme park instead? Thanks in advance. I don’t know why I’m having so much anxiety over this. Lol.
 
You can check in online and opt-in for a text to let you know when your room is ready and what your room number is. If you've checked bags and put the DME yellow tags on them, DME will pick up those bags and, eventually, place them in your resort room once it's ready. If you have any carry-ons that you don't want to take to the park, you can leave them with bell services at the resort. If you are arriving at 9:00 am, your room may not be ready when you arrive. If there isn't a huge line, you could still check-in with a front desk CM. On our last trip, I did online check-in and we arrived at BWI at about 2:00 pm. I got a text that our room wasn't ready yet, so, when we arrived, I stopped at the front desk anyway. The CM then offered me a room that was ready and it was actually a great room, so we accepted. If you've done online check-in and you don't want to go to the front desk, yes, you can simply get off DME and get on a park bus!
 
You MIGHT be able to skip the front desk by checking in online.
I'd suggest doing online check in personally.
If you're taking magical express and you received yellow luggage tags and choose to use them you will not see your luggage until it arrives in your room.
You can take your carry ons to bell services if your room is not ready upon arrival and you'd like to head to a park.

Your checked luggage that has the yellow tags on it yes.
The carry ons you stow at bell services I believe you have to go pick those back up yourself.
You may also just be lucky and your room may be ready when you arrive so you can go put your carry ons in it.

Just to clarify, only your checked luggage that you tagged with the yellow tags will go to your room. Any carry-ons that you bring on the bus or place under the bus, you are responsible for. You can leave them with bell services to hold until your room is ready.

Glad you added the part I bolded.
Just to add to that aspect anything on/under the bus you must retrieve before leaving the bus.

To reinforce this ......... even after doing online check in, you are not guaranteed they will send you a text/email to your room. You might still have to go to the front desk.

Lately I have not gotten my room number text/email until days after I was checked in so allow in your schedule going to front desk if needed.
