Do waitstaff get annoyed when using both DDP and DDE

I'm still undecided, but I think we will do both. We are a party of six (2 real adults and 4 wannabe's). The three menfolk can certainly pack it away, but us three gals could probably share some stuff and go whole hog on other stuff. There will also be liquor and wine involved since everyone will be over 21.

My question is, do the waitstaff seem to get annoyed when having to prepare two separate checks? And how do you go about telling them that this will be the plan? Like, if we want to share an entree and get apps and drinks OOP? I know these people have a hard job already, but I don't want to humiliate my group by having someone annoyed at my requests.

Would be interested in hearing from anyone who has done this.

It was just my DH and myself in April on the DDP and using DDE for those adult drinks. I told the waiter as soon as we were ready to order that we had both. He thanked me for it since he does have to keep them separate and would have had to redo the check at the end if I hadn't. We just ordered apps, meals and desserts from the DDP for both so can't say how they would handle sharing, etc.
I will be doing this again in September as my son will not be on the plan when he joins us for dinner a couple of days. I will have his meal and all the drinks put on the DDE card. We will also have two reservations to contend with as we have one with 4A 1C and one with 3 adults so will probably end up with 3 checks, 2 DDP and 1DDE. That should make us really popular.

I agree, as long as you tell them when you order it is not hard to split the bill any which way.

Our son is joining us for a few days and will not have DDP (because he couldn't get there in time for us to add it to his room for free, boo). So we will have the whole complex split bill thing going on too. I always leave an extra tip (above and beyond the 20% for all items off the DDP) when we do this, because it is a little bit of extra work for them.

I have never had a server in any Disney restaurant get annoyed because of complicated requests. I am sure that as long as you let your server know at the outset what you are asking to do, he/she will be happy to do whatever you want. The waitstaff at Disney has been one of the most accomodating and knowledgable I have ever encountered. We do tip generously when we ask for special requests, take longer than the average table, etc.

For our trip in 3 weeks, we'll be using both the DDP and DDE. The info in this thread has been really helpful.

Kathy thanks for posting this...I have just decided to get AP's and will be ordering a DDE card (and we are on the DDP too), so it is very helpful to know to tell the servers when ordering.
