We go in 11 days and I am trying to budget this food thing.. Our room has a microwave and a fridge, so I thought about taking a taxi to the store and do some grocery shopping for the week of easy things and just comming back to the room ( across the street "tropicana" ) to keep it cheep. My problem is I have never taken a taxi in my life.. I dont know if it is a lot of money or if they mind us having some bags of food? There is 5 of us and we would all have to go 'cuz I am NOT letting the kids stay in the room alone.. what are your ideas?

We have done this several times. Might want to ask for a van if you are taking kids. You could also leave your food in locker, instead of walking back. There is an area you can eat in. Just my thoughts.

I agree, either have groceries delivered, or just walk to the 7-eleven (it's right next to the CCI, maybe a 5-7 minute walk from the Tropicana).:)

The taxi would be more expensive and more trouble than ordering online.
We had groceries delivered by Von's back in September. It was great! At the time they were running a free delivery deal for first time orders. It was so simple to shop online and have it delivered right to the door at my specified time. We will be ordering again on our next trip. (The savings from ordering a case of water alone was so worth it!)

We took a taxi from PP to Vons $5 each way well worth being able to do the shopping yourself always find things you need last minute.

With water being $3.50 a bottle (small bottle - I believe the 16.9 oz size) it is worth it to walk to the 7-11 to pick up water for $1.00 to $2.00 depending on the size. That savings alone is AWESOME. Never did grocery delivery because I am a local and always have a car to shop. The grocery stores are too convenient in Anaheim.

We are also going to get groceries to have in our hotel room. I found a section on this board under planning that has all the grocery/ convenience stores that are near DL. It also has their address and web sites listed. I am planning on ordering groceries from Albertsons for a $10 delivery fee. I figure the savings will offset this fee.
Have a great trip!!

We used Albertsons.com delivery for our last trip and it worked out great. We ordered a case of water bottles for $5.99. Even with the $10 delivery fee, we got 24 bottles of water for what we would pay for about 5 of them at the park. So even just for water, it was well worth it, but we also ordered milk, snacks, etc. They delivery person arrived about 45 minutes into the 2 hour "window" and our order was just perfect with cold milk, etc. We will definitely use them the next time too. :)

Will the front desk normally call the room to advise the delivery person has arrived, or does someone need to wait in the foyer?

I'm not sure how it is handled at other hotels, but when we stayed at the Carousel Inn, they delivered it right to our room. I didn't know what my room number would be when I placed the order online, so when I checked in, I just let the front desk know that I would be expecting a delivery and that it was okay for them to give my room number to the delivery person when they arrived. I think I read elsewhere that some hotels do not allow deliveries directly to the room and that they accepted it at the front desk. Hopefully, some other people who have had deliveries at other hotels can give some more information about that. :) There also may be some difficulty in placing an online order if you live outside the USA. I have read some things about this also.
