Do they release more rooms for Free Dining?

So, I'm trying to book a Value Resort for August w/the free dining offer. They are telling me they do not have any value (other than AOA suites) available. They said they "may' release more rooms, but I'd have to call every day to see if that occurs. How likely is this to actually occur? Has anyone experienced this? It's frustrating bc the longer we wait to book, the higher the airfare could go! NOT happy that they offer these promotions, then say they don't have any rooms available. They kept trying to sway me towards DCB- but they are going under a lot of construction during August. Not feeling very magical about all of this.

Well, first, no reason to be unhappy with Disney. They are very up front that it's select hotels and only a limited number of rooms are available under the promotion. That is standard with FD promotions and to get a room you have to get one on the first couple of days of the promotion. If you don't then the chances increase that they've all been taken by others.

I suppose it's possible there may be more rooms released but I've never heard of it. In fact I've heard the opposite, that if someone cancels an FD room it goes back into regular inventory not FD inventory.

Free dining coming out is the release of more rooms.. Prior to it coming out, it's been a bounce back, some years there is an earlier in the year lower end offer and the international visitors have had the option for free dining. Basically, the free dining everyone waits for is what is left over..

The promotions are offered to fill rooms, but not everyone is going to be able to take advantage of the special. There is only a limited number of rooms allocated to a special so many have to switch resorts, room category or dates to take advantage of the special. The number of rooms offered at a particular resort depends on how many rooms were already booked and how many rooms Disney feels it can fill without a special. A small resort like Port Orleans French Quarter or the popular Little Mermaid rooms are frequently not included in the specials because they fill without discounts. If the number of booked rooms falls below some magical thresh hold or if a lot of reservations are canceled when people find a room they like better they might release more rooms or they might not and there's no way of knowing unless you keep checking online or call. This time some reported being able to book rooms a couple days after the start of the promo when some rooms were released, but if you just started looking into the promo it's been available for a while so many room categories and resorts are pretty much booked up.

Not feeling very magical about all of this.

Have you compared the cost of your trip with the other available discounts? The resorts have plenty of availability its just the pricing structure that may change.

Disney doesn't want to do free dining, it is only a last resort to fill rooms. I suspect they release less and less each year. I wouldn't be surprised if they allotted exactly 1 room to the promotion so they can both say they do still offer it and that nothing is available.

Not sure what dates you are looking for in August, but I am seeing standard available at Sports the last week of August.
