Sometimes.
They may offer the full Ceremony, or just a brief voice-only "Welcome."
It can vary according to, well, anything.
I will say that if they DO offer the Rope Drop Ceremony on an AM EMH day,
it will only be performed for the early EMH crowd, and not again that day for the "regular hours" guests.
Many here plan on getting to the parks very early for Rope Drop due to the major advantage it offers in lower crowds at the attractions for the first 1-3 hours of the day.
The "Ceremony" (if any) is just a cute addition to the proceedings.
Nice to see, but not the principal reason to get up early.
For me the best reason to see the "Ceremony" is when you are bringing a child there for the first time. When Mickey and the other characters roll into the station on the train it's a magical moment for a 5 year old who is going to the Magic Kingdom for the first time. That's how it was when we brought our older daughter there in 2005, and we'll be there for the ceremony this Saturday when we bring our younger daughter there for the first time.
We go to the parks at Rope Drop almost every time. I have never experienced a Park Opening Ceremony on an AM EMH day. If you REALLY want to see the ceremony, I would make sure to be at Rope Drop on a regular day. Have fun!
