Do they ever offer discounts on deluxe resorts?

I'm planning a stay at a WDW resort for 6 people in 2 rooms in late April/early May 2007. We want to stay in a deluxe resort, FIL wants to pay for a moderate. I've seen some discount codes for the value resorts but am not finding anything for the deluxe. So I was just wondering if they are ever offered?

Thanks,

They definitely have discounts for the deluxes -- We got one for our December trip that knocked the price for our room at the Yacht Club from the rack rate of $534 down to $268 (gotta love those holiday rates...)

Also be on the look out for AP rate discounts. Some times it is definitely worth buying the pass to get the room discount. Alot of times 40% off rack rates.

Disney Planner Mama,
How did you go about getting this discount? You were the first person I have seen to say that they have received a discount at the Yacht Club (that is the only place DH will stay). We are planning to go during June 2007. Any guidance that you can pass on will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks! :worship:

I have gotten several discounts in the past for YC. You just have to keep your eyes open for the codes and packages Disney offers. They usually only hype the value resort codes/discounts (to make a trip seem really inexpensive), but those codes/discounts generally also will provide a discount for deluxe resorts as well.

I got an ap rate at the y/c, too. prior to that, I had a AAA rate there. the ap rate just beat it, so I ended up buying at ap just to get the ap rate. But the AAA rate was decent, too. The ap is nice because I was able to get the DDE card, which will save us 20% on our table service meals.

Check out Mousesavers . They keep track of the discounts and post them.

It's going to be tough to find a Disney discount that gets a deluxe down to the price of a moderate. You might want to consider renting DVC points.

I was told that only a % of unsold rooms @ any resort make it into the discounted category (public codes, AP rates)

AAA rates are also based on % but, available early in year.

For the CR MK twr view 2nd week of Oct., AP rate only topped the AAA one by a small margin & you could add the DP/pkg to AAA's rate too if desired.

yes, you can add the dp to aaa, but you can get the dde card with ap. we figured the dde makes more sense to us, so something to think about depending on what rate you find yourself with. :)

The discount is an annual passholder discount which my wonderful Travel Agent (Leigh at Small World Vacations) alerted me about. We had actually let our annual passes expire but it was well worth it to get a new one for this rate the difference between a six day park hopper and an annual pass was pretty much paid for in the savings of a one night stay! And since we are taking my folks along it really made a difference when paying for two rooms (you can apply the AP rate to up to three rooms).

I used to call and keep track of discount codes and such myself but for the last year and a half or so have used a TA -- it's so much less of a headache.
