Do they ever lift blackout dates?

We are traveling at the end of April. A pretty good APH discount became available where we are paying more that 100 less a night for a king suite than we were for a 2 queen room so it makes sense to get an AP.

As it stands right now the two cheapest passes are blocked out for our dates so we’ll need to get a preferred pass. I’m wondering if Universal ever removes block out dates though and if we should wait to purchase the AP. Thanks.

Well, I can't say for sure, but I think they are the cheapest APs BECAUSE OF the blackout dates.

Well yes of course but I know last year Disneyland did in block out some dates last summer and I’m curious if Universal ever does the same thing if attendance isn’t as expected.

Yes, I had a Seasonal pass a few years ago and there was some lifting of summer blockout dates. I doubt it around Easter though. There is never a rush to get the AP, you don't need it at checkin, you could buy a (discounted) regular ticket and upgrade when you get there to whatever AP you need.

If you do end up with the preferred pass, at least it gives you food discounts almost everywhere in the parks and at some resort and Citywalk restaurants.

Ditto on the above. The only real way around a blackout is to buy tickets and use that value to upgrade. You may miss a sale, but there are always sales, it seems. You may even get a deal in the park you didn't know about before?
