Every time I have spoken with anyone at Disney while making ressies, etc., they ask what we will be celebrating on our trip. So why? Do they do anything special when you arrive?

They didn't do anything special for us, it was our First Visit. My friend went for his honeymoon though and said he and his wife got special treatment and preferred seating at restaurants and I've heard of honeymooners getting upgrades.

We went for our anniversary and got a card signed by the characters when we were at Crystal Palace. It was neat to get anything at all. I really didn't expect it.

They give you a special "Im celebrating " button.Other than that and well wishes by CMS, that was about it.

We got free dessert at two restaurants since we were wearing our buttons.

I found it annoying ~ each time I called for our visit last Oct. "What are you celebrating?" What I wanted to say each time would've been ~ "Nothing really, we just want to visit, it's a 1st visit for each of us and my mom's B~day happens to be right in the middle of our trip."

It was our Anniversary and we got a beautiful free dessert - chocolate covered strawberries, with "Happy 12th Anniversary" written in Chocolate!

It was so lovely.

We just got back last night. My husband got a mickey cupcake and they sang to him for his birthday.

For our anniversary we got buttons at check in (I found a just married button and wore it along with my anniversary button...I'm a little silly and I got some strange looks). Anyway we went to Crystal Palance on our anniversary and the wait staff sang to us while some of the characters clapped along. We got a cupcake and our waitress took pics. It was very cute and we have some great pics for our scrapbook.

Last summer we celebrated an anniversary and a birthday, when we were at AKV and staying conceirge level, we recieved a gift bag with cologne & perfume, some chocolate, and a keychain. It was very nice. I think it was due to the concierge level stay and is not the norm. We mostly get well wishes when we arecelebrating something. :)

We went for our anniversary and got the aniversary buttons which brought many well wishes. One day when we returned from a park there were balloons with a card and picture of Mickey and Minnie from Mickey and Minnie in our room.

We went this past September for our 3 year anniversary. At Chef Mickey's and Ohana we got cupcakes on top of our dessert. On our actually anniversary we had dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse and they had a printed menu with Happy Anniversary and the date and after we were done with dessert brough out a plate with chocolate and jellys with Happy Anniversary on the plate. Honestly tho my favorite memory on the trip (other than find out we were expecting while there) was that during the dance party Woody saw our pins and was making a big deal with his character motions so awesome!!! :goodvibes
I guess it really is the little things that matter.

In September we got a towel cake with candles. It was decorated with pirates ticks and fun stuff. there was also a card signed by Mickey with his photo in it and a coupon for 20% off anything at the photopass website. Our first day we got a square of chocolate with a picture of the lodge on it and a welcome sign. But, we also were staying concierge. We have gotten many random things over the years like strawberries and zebra domes and such. In January we will be staying concierge there for our 6th or 7th time I think, maybe even 8th. It pays to have DVC and to be able to call at exactly 11 months no matter the date.

We've gotten cupcakes/special desserts at meals, balloon bouquets, character-signed cards, etc.

we were celebrating an early birthday for two of my kids and a late birthday for my son. Disney gave them all buttons. At first the boys felt funny because it wasn't their actual birthday, but disney gave them the pins just for me saying that we were doing this as a gift. My boys got cupcakes at just about every resturaunt, they also got cards from some of the character meals that were signed by the characters, Many CM's stopped them around the park and gave them stickers. they got alot of attention in the parks. I wrote a note to housekeeping and when we got back there was a towel oragami dog for each of my children. By the third day my boys made sure to announce their birthday buttons because of all the extras they where getting.

We went for our honeymoon and they gave us buttons. We wore them to every park and got to ride multiple rides more than once. IE. on Expedition Everest and Tomorrowland Speedway they just told us not to get off and sent us through again after they loaded the new passengers. Many other rides gave us fastpasses to basically get right back in line and get on immediately. We got preferred seating at a couple of restaurants. At Cinderella's Royal Table they gave us the table in the center of the room overlooking MK. So beautiful! Our server also gave us champagne flutes and an extra dessert because we couldn't decide (although that might be because we bonded over being from Italy!) We got to sit in the front row at The Festival of the Lion King in AK and we were asked to "magically" open the doors for the crowd to enter and my husband also got pulled up to make the warthog noise and everyone in the show took a second to give us a round of applause after they introduced us as honeymooners. We got a lot of congratulations and such and few other free desserts as well. I've heard other stories, however, that people celebrating didn't really get any special treatment so I guess its just the luck of the draw. Its worth a try though, right? Good luck!

It's better not to hope or excpect anything and be pleasantly suprised, then end up disappointed. I think they put a bit too much emphasis on the "clebrations" theme- people think the 3:00 parade is going to be in their honor. ;) We wore our pins and got a few "Happy Birthday's" and that's it.

For our past anniversary buttons (26 this year)....it ranged from congratulations by park attendants/character "pointings" to dessert/champagne during dining. we don't really expect anything, it's just cool when something comes as a surprise :lovestruc Oh, one year we got an extra FP to Soarin and I attributed it to our buttons....there was no way the CM could let DH, DS, and DD through without me:laughing:

I think it all depends on the day, which CMs you meet, etc.

We went for a "girls' weekend" to celebrate my mom's 65th birthday -- me, my sister, my mom and her sister (my aunt). My mom was treated like a QUEEN for the whole weekend.

She got a personalized photo card with Cinderella and Prince Charming, along with some balloons in our room. She got a special cupcake/dessert at each TS restaurant we went to. She got wished "happy birthday" at least 100 times (not joking!) Nearly every cast member we passed wished her happy birthday and lots of guests did, too. She got lots of characters/performers coming up to her during parades, etc. and giving her birthday wishes or pointing to her button. One time, we were in a shop and the worker came over and said "Excuse me. There's a telephone call for you at the desk." We couldn't figure out who would even *know* to call her there. It was Mickey Mouse, wishing her a happy birthday. ;)

As soon as we got home, my sister booked a trip to celebrate her DD's third birthday at the World. She couldn't wait for her DD to get all that attention. I think her DD got a special cupcake at dinner and a few people wished her Happy Birthday (but apparently not nearly like the wishes Mom got), but that was about the only special attention that she got. So I guess it just depends. I agree not to expect anything and be happy with what you get -- I bet my sister would have been happy with the attention her DD got if she hadn't seen how much *more* attention Mom got.

We just went for our son's 5th birthday. He wore his button during most but not all of the trip and he got special treatment. Some was just "happy birthday" from others and cast members - which he loved. But we also got 2 magical moments. One was at a counter service restaurant where we were seated, served and our food was plated for us. It was great! Not sure if we were picked due to his button or not but I'm sure it helped. Our son also got a call from Goofy on his birthday while we were in a shop. He got cupcakes with every table service meal and several cards signed by characters. He loved it.
