For many of the tours you have to be 16.
My DD is really intersted in the one at AK. The next time we go, she will only be a couple months away from 16.
Do they check IDs? Or do you think I can get her in?

DD had to show her license when she took the Segway tour last year, a few months after her 16th birthday. They also wanted a parent or guardian to sign the release form. As I had dropped DD at the door of Epcot to get her tour and then taken younger DD to our resort, she (DD16) signed her own release form - not exactly kosher but it would have meant missing the tour if she had fessed up!! No one checked to see that an adult signed the release, but they did ask to see her ID before they gave her the paperwork.

YES THEY DO!! When I was at the MK on August 6th, I was taking the Keys to the Kingdom tour with my dad. There was another family there with 2 daughters. One was over 16 (don't know her age) and the other was 15 and about 9 months (her birthday was in a couple of months). They were NOT allowed to take the tour. The one daughter was very upset. It's harsh, but I guess they have the age limit for a reason. It just seems that some 15-year-olds are as mature as 16-year-olds.

It has nothing to do with maturity. It's an insurance thing. The insurance company covering those tours and activities requires that participants be 16 years old or older.

They definitely do check for ID. I'd just use this as an excuse to plan another trip!! :cool1:

How do they check ID for a 16 year old??? They aren't old enough to have a driver's license in NJ?? :confused3

Not that my DD is old enough yet, but just curious...

Looks like I will have to!! :cool1:

Good question! What if my DD hasn't completed her driver's training yet and doesn't have a license by then? Would I need her birth cert?? :confused3

Most states issue state ids at their dmv's I suppose this is what they would check??

I'd think if there were any question about a participant's age, and that age couldn't be proved, Disney would be within its rights to refuse to let that person/party participate.

What about the Wild by Design tour at Animal Kingdom? She only needs to be fourteen for that one.

If the 16 year old doesn't have a driver's license, they do allow a student ID with a copy of birth certificate.
