All this talk about room changes, once DCL gives you a room number do they ever change it on you? Do I need to take Dave's list of rooms not to take once I have accepted a room?

I should clarify we are on deck 2. And I did have Dave's list at the phone when I reserved our room. Thanks so much, Dave

No, they don't change your room number once it's assigned. The only exception would be if they offered you an upgrade. Otherwise, if you have an assigned room that's the one you'll get.

I would like to see the list of rooms not to take. Dave can you show us this list? I was planning to ask about an upgrade at the port as you can do this cheaper but would hate to pay to upgrade categories and then get a lousy room. It would be handy to know which rooms are not good and why not.

Thanks

Where is this list of Daves. Rooms not to take. I don't think I have seen this at his site:rolleyes:

Dave has his own list of rooms on Deck Two that he estimates are in the "noisier" areas. As he says, your mileage may vary. :)

For the majority of the rooms, Deck 2 is very quiet and you should have no problem staying there. But there are some zones where staterooms are near loud mechanical equipment (electrical lockers, transformer rooms, a/c equipment rooms, ship's propellers, cargo hatches, etc.).

So with the disclaimer that "your mileage may vary" and that you may be willing to put up with the "dull roar" in exchange for a good fare, these are the rooms that are in noisy zones:

<nl>
2000 - 2004

2032

2036 - 2045

2078 - 2085

2088 - 2096

2114 - 2129

2139 - 2153

2500 - 2520

2534 - 2547

2586 - 2600

2626

2630 - 2653</nl>

Also, on Deck 1, you might want to avoid 1030 - 1037.

The noise in these zones is not so loud that it would ruin your vacation, but if you are sensitive to noise, you would probably want to consider another room or be sure to bring earplugs to wear when you go to bed.

I had Dave's list in hand when making reservations for my brother and my parents. One of those rooms (it was either 2136 or 2132) had a problem with a closet door that was loose. On the last night, it was so loud they couldn't sleep -- what's more, the phone rang about midnight, and the people in the adjoining stateroom were calling them to ask what they were doing to make all that noise, because it had woken THEM up! My brother said he could see where past residents of the room had tried wedging in matchbooks and other things to try to stop the noise. Our last night of cruising was the roughest night, so that must be why the noise was so much louder then. I think it was 2132.

DCL has changed our friends room #. was assigned a room then got her docs and it was different.

needless to say she is real upset . Had room #2626 now is very forward. She is afraid of seasickness now that she is forward.
