I would like to know if I will still be able to have dessert after dinner. That is the most important part of dinner. But I can not have sugar. Please if any info let me know. We will be staying at the Yacht Club.

I'm not sure about all the restaurants but I did eat a sugar free brownie (or cookie -- can't remember which!) at Chef Mickey's. I don't have to eat sugar-free things, but I sometimes choose to.

Hello!! :welcome: From what I've learned on the Disabilities board you can call ahead (to the table service places) and let them know ahead of time. Also if you are trying to avoid sugar or carbs in your meals you can call ahead and let them know about that too.

Some counter service places offer sugar free brownies.

The disabilities boards has lots of good info about sugar free foods and allergy related things.

Also allearsnet.com has all the menus...actually I believe we have them listed here on the Dis also.

Dd is diabetic so we have been down this path before.. you can get sugar free items at TS especially if you call ahead and some CS places have sugar free cookies or brownies and of course the ever popular jello.. Now.. sugar free simply means there is no refined sugar added but they often use concentrated fruit juice or artificial sweeteners to make the items. I know for DD this is no help at all because these items have just as many carbs as the regular sugar items. I am not sure why you cannot have sugar but we have opted to just split a regular dessert instead of eating a less flavorful and often distressing ( some artificial sweeteners react bad with DD).

DH cannot have refined sugar. Well, he can have very small amounts of it. Low-sugar, no sugar added, no sugar. Sometimes he just passes up dessert now because jello isn't really dessert for him. :rotfl2:

I've found that most TS restaurants have sugar-free cheesecake. But, you have to ask for it right away when you sit down, because it's kept in the freezer and they need to thaw out a piece for you. :)

The sugar free dessert offerings vary from restaurant to restaurant. A lot of them will bring you a sugar free brownie or cheesecake that they've obviously had in the freezer. Le Cellier actually has quite a lovely citrus mousse that's sugar free, but it's not the menu. Ask for it when you order your dinner, because it takes a while to make.

Another favorite of ours is the sugar free chocolate mousse at Norway's Kringla Bakery og Kafe - really good!
