we leave on saturday, and i just discovered my dd misplaced most of her black backings to her pins. yikes! do they sell them at pin stations at the parks?

Yes, they do sell pin backs. I think they come in a pack of 6 or 10 for less than $2. They also have locking pin backs (they cost more) but the pin won't come off without using the little allen wrench key that they come with.

Have fun!

I've found that displaying pins on a canvas rather than a cork board works better. And that way the pin backs stay with the pins.

you can get them at dtd also and if you are staying on property you can get them right at your resort

Just wanted to give a bit of a "hint"
If your child/ren wants to wear their lanyard with their pins, especially favorites...it can be very upsetting and frustrating to lose them...and YES, they fall off in all the moving and shuffling around. They sell LOCKING backs that work very effectively. (They are metal opposed to the black soft plastic) I purchased ours on ebay as we had the misfortune of losing some "favorites" (and it was a double ouch, both the loss and the $$!) we learned the hard way................

We actually display some pins in some Shadow boxes (the pin goes right into the cardboard that is covered in Disney material (cheap at walmart and the boxes are cheap at AC Moore with a coupon)

We also pin some right on a Disney pillow we made, by adding an extra piece of material on the front (kinda like a sash)...
happy Pin Collecting to ALL! :wizard:

I also recommend the locking backs. We use a combination of the 2. Special pins that aren't to be traded get locking backs.....tradeable ones get the regular black mickey ear ones. The kids change their mind every night....just because one deserves a locking back today does not guarantee it's safety tomorrow! :rotfl2:

If you are wanting to purchase the locking backs, I recommend getting them before you go. We looked all over, several resorts, all the parks...none to be found. The CMs said they were having trouble getting them from the manufacturer. Needless to say, we bought several pins that never got worn...

How much are the locking backs in the parks? I see them on ebay but am not sure what is a good deal.
Thanks for any help.
Sandy

Oh I think I paid about 15 total and got like 25 last year.
maybe search thru ebay and even craigslist :confused3
Good Luck, so worth it!

When we were there in Oct. 2009, we could not find the pinbacks at any of the pin stations or shops we checked (1 or 2 in each park, not an exhaustive search by any means!). We did find the locking ones at our resort and were glad to use them to keep the pins safe. The mickey head ones are cute, but fall off way too easy.

instead of putting the black mickey shaped ones on straight, if you put it on at an angle into the hole (so the pin digs into the rubber) they hold MUCH better, especially on the smaller pins. The bigger heavier pins can still fall off this way, put its a lot harder.

We had some on so well it was difficult to get the backs off some of them.
