Reason being we are planning to eat at Flame Tree BBQ and I know my kids would definetely prefer a pork sandwhich over a hot dog/drumstick offered on the kids menu. Just want to plan accordingly.

Unless you are on a dining plan, I don't see why you couldn't get anything you wanted.

Yes actually we are on the basic dining plan which is why this question came up. So I am assuming they would have to order from the kids menu???

Oh......and we go to Flame Tree every visit to WDW too! My kids usually share a "big person" meal. In fact we usually all share a couple of the meals. We get the pork BBQ and beans, but this time I want to try the ribs!:yay:

If using the dining plan, then children are required to order off the children's menu where one is available. Child's credit = Child's meal.

Oh no. If you are on a dining plan I bet that you WILL have to order off of the kids menu. We had the dining plan once and I think we did have to have the kids order off of the kids menu.

Yes, if you're on the DDP, kids' credits are for kids' meals. But you could always pay OOP for whatever they want at select places, then use the kids' credits for breakfast.

I'd probably just get two adult rib & chicken platters and hope that is enough for everyone to share.

:)

Oh darn, I thought you said ribs, not pork sandwiches. Sorry. Scratch that.

On the dining plan/Key to the World, it shows how many adults and children are in your group. On our last trip I tried to order 3 adult items somewhere at DS. We had 2 adults in my party and I was going to let the 2 kids share one adult item. They were tired of burgers and chicken fingers. When I ordered the lady wouldn't let me get 3 adult orders because my card showed that I only had 2 adults. But, I think if you order separately, such as 2 adults and then someone else orders adults for the kids, it wouldn't be a problem. I'd be interested to hear what others have to say about this option since I didn't try it.

Rumor has it that you are correct & theoretically could order it that way. But who wants to order 2 platters for the adults & then wait again and order 2 more? Not I. I could see ordering only 2 platters for 4 to share & then doing it again somewhere else but I am not messing with 2 separate orders at the same time.
